Gary Kriel is a South African Jazz musician and veteran. He trended the South African Jazz scene from the early 50s, playing his last gig in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. He was best known as bass player, but also played the accordion, piano, guitar and bango professionally. Gary Kriel was best known as the lead guitarist for Percy Sledge during his tour in Swaziland in 1968, and as a longstanding member of the Tony Schilder Trio. This is a tribute to his contribution to South African Jazz.
