New edition of the biggest chess tournament in Europe at Easter in Karlsruhe - GRENKE Classic with Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren and Vincent Keymer.
For many chess fans, it's the news of the year right at the start of the year: the GRENKE Chess Festival is back. In 2020, the event had to be canceled at short notice just a few days before the Easter tournament due to the pandemic. Now the long-awaited comeback. The GRENKE Chess Open will pick up where it left off. Tournament mode, announcement and schedule (March 28 to April 1) are almost unchanged. A prize fund of 70,000 euros and the opportunity to play in the same tournament hall as the chess superstars should once again make the tournament the biggest open tournament in Europe from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday.

Congratulations to the OSG Baden-Baden for winning the Schachbundesliga 15-times!
Team captain Sven Noppes and the grandmasters Fabiano Caruana, Richard Rapport Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Francisco Vallejo Pons, Alexej Shirov, Michael Adams, Radoslaw Wojtaszek, Rustam Kasimdzhanov, Arkadij Naiditsch, Etienne Bacrot, Georg Meier and Sergei Movsesian were involved in the Baden-Baden success in the last 5 rounds in Bremen.
Fabiano Caruana and Richard Rapport, by the way, were fresh from the Candidates Tournament to determine the challenger to World Champion Carlsen.

Congratulations to grandmaster Vincent Keymer! He achieved the second place at the European Individual Championship in Iceland and became the European vice-champion 2021. With this great performance the 16-years old Keymer qualified for the World Cup and is on a good way into the Top 100.

Stunning chess performance from all of the players who successfully prevailed against the strongest European chess teams. Especially grandmaster Vincent Keymer (5.5/7) and GM Georg Meier (5/6) fought like tigers on the chess board and scored important and decisive points for Deizisau.
