GREAT NEWS!
Dr. Irving Finkel returns for a live YouTube talk on Sunday, Dec 1 at 3pm Central Standard Time.
The topic: dreams and prophesies!
Dreams in ancient Mesopotamia were often considered to contain messages. Specialists knew what dream meant and were on hand to offer explanations. This talk will introduce the topic of dreams and omens and discuss a previously unknown group of late period cuneiform tables that use a specific form of magic to make a client have a prophetic dream. This tablet recounts a marvelous dream written down when Alexander the Great ruled Babylon.

Irving Finkel returns! Join us on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 3pm CDT for a live presentation by Dr. Irving Finkel about the “people between the rivers” — the Tigris and the Euphrates Rivers, that is. Were the people of ancient Mesopotamia so very different from us? Did they enjoy a good dinner, rejoice in love, fling curses at a faithless spouse, and quake in fear at the wrath of gods? We are fortunate because we have their most intimate thoughts, inscribed in clay thousands of years ago, still accessible to us. Dr. Finkel, a renowned expert, unlocks their writing in cuneiform, opening a dramatic window into the ancient Mesopotamian world, revealing lives that are every bit as complex and human as are our own lives today.
