Life is all about connection and community and sometimes in our profession, in corrections we lose sight of that. Sometimes our experiences and our unresolved emotions push us into survival mode, into a place where isolation is our solace, our refuge.
The problem with self-isolation as a practice, as plan A is that humans werenât created that way. We are pack animals. Love and belonging is one of our basic needs.
Participating in life, in positive activities recharges, refreshes, and re-energizes. It reinforces our reasons for fighting through all that we fight through. It heals.
So what do you do? What can you do to connect, to #getinvolved in your community? What can you do to help you become the best version of yourself? What can you change to make life more meaningful and fulfilling? Maybe nothing. Maybe youâre exactly where you want to be and thatâs great! But if youâre not, if you feel like there is something missing, know that youâre not alone.
So, letâs get up, get out, and get involved!

The title âcorrectional officerâ is not just a consolation prize, itâs not just a bridge between where you are and where you want to go. Itâs not just a stepping stone!
My fellow brothers and sisters, you are more than JUST CORRECTIONS, you are important public servants that perform an incredibly dangerous and thankless job, selflessly serving your respective communities with professionalism, dignity, and honor. Hold your head high and be proud of yourself and your profession!

âWilliam hit the proverbial nail on the head with this book. âThe Nothing that Never Happenedâ is a genius follow-up to âWhen home becomes a Housing Unitâ. If you have ever worked inside of a correctional facility, this is a must read! Yet again, William shares stories, advice and situations that made me laugh and cry. I could relate to so many things in this book, itâs like he has lived my life. Some brought out emotions I havenât felt in a while or have ever addressed beforeâŚâ

Over the past few of years I have been on a crusade to bring awareness to the emotional dangers and psychological damage that correctional officers endure throughout their career.
During that time, I have written two books on the subject, both of which I am very proud of.
I have written articles and I have been interviewed on numerous platforms and podcasts. I started a my own podcast and YouTube channel looking to give officers and their families some information (and entertainment) to help them survive a career in corrections.
This channel here provides content (Vlogs, Podcasts, Interviews) for the current, aspiring, retired, or retiring correctional officer looking for information about the profession presented in a entertaining and informative way.
