Very discouraging to read that Hal may be bringing Sharks Happen to a close. If that's the case, and I hope it isn't (though that's what his latest community post sounds like) then that'll be 2 of the biggest, most successful creators in this particular niche that have hung it up recently. Youtube has changed things around, guys. It's making it a lot harder to justify creating solid content because content creation isn't easy. I'm thankful for the handful of faithful viewers here on the channel. Just wanted to drop in after reading that post and let you all know... I may not be able to post on here as often as I'd like... but I'm not going anywhere. I'm too hardheaded to quit lol. I set a goal for myself and it isn't a monetary one... I want one of those nifty YouTube plaques and I intend to have one for my wall 😝. I'm partially joking, but I'm a quarter of the way there already so I may as well make a go of it. Might be a few years before I make it, if I ever make it... but I'm damn sure going to try. I busted my butt through college for these pieces of paper. That YouTube plaque is a lot prettier and would look real good next to them 🤣

Aaron Hedges went missing in The Crazy Mountains of Montana in 2014 while elk hunting. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are mysterious and seemingly impossible. I'm branching out in this forthcoming video. Missing 411 is coming to the channel 👀 Don't worry folks. There will be much more animal attack content to come... but this is Reel Deal Outdoors Stories. There will be a variety of content here, all interesting, mysterious, and terrifying. Stay tuned!

Alright... I've been trying to catch up on comments this evening and found a couple things I kind of want to address. This isn't a rant... more an explanation. I come across a lot of what I call self important people on YouTube. There are viewers who I guess feel like the world revolves around them and that I somehow have to try and please them because they view themselves as "customers," as one guy put it. That's not how this works. I don't have customers. I have fans. Of course I appreciate every one of you guys and gals who enjoy these videos. But I don't view any of you as customers that I'm somehow beholden to.

I started this channel as a creative outlet. I've always been fascinated by large predators and the struggle that takes place between humans and the wild. I'm a creative professional by trade. I decided to combine the two and do something interesting. The videos I make are for my own gratification, not necessarily to please anyone else. If people like what I do that's awesome, but I'm not really concerned if they don't. If this were a customer/business relationship it would be my job to please my customer base. That's not what I'm doing here. A fan is a fan because they enjoy the art created by the artist that pleases the artist (if that makes sense). Art is a personal endeavor. We all have a favorite musical artist or filmmaker, etc... being a fan doesn't mean we get to be a part of their creative process. Sometimes our favorite artists try new things that we might not care too much for. The art changes as the artist does... I don't want to get too far in the weeds with it, but I view you all as fans. That doesn't mean I'm not open to constructive criticism. I welcome it. But I'm not obligated to do things a certain way to please anyone... especially someone who threatens to unsubscribe if I don't bend to their whim. If you like what I do great. If not, no one is making you stay here.

Next up is the criticism I get for "profiting off of others' deaths." Guys, I don't make any money here. Yes, my channel is monetized, but I don't even make enough to cover the cost of producing a single video. I didn't set out to get rich doing this. As I mentioned above, I'm a creative professional for a living. I do video production, graphic design, photography, audio production, and I'm a working musician. I have a lot of irons on the fire. You have to to make it as an artist. I do these videos between projects so that I'm always creating. It keeps me sharp. It becomes obvious when you see that I've had this channel for a couple of years and have only produced like 13 full length videos that I'm not doing this to make my living. I never imagined this channel would achieve any kind of success. That was never the goal. It's been a blessing that it has done well. And if some day this really does blow up and I start making a ton of money, I'm not selling stories of death. The income is from advertisers paying to reach the viewers on my platform. Everything I said previously applies. The stories I cover here have been covered far and wide in every medium imaginable. Books, films, articles, documentaries. It's all public domain. I like to think that these videos might be of some value to people who may benefit from hearing these accounts. Perhaps they could save a life someday.

Sorry for the long post. I just thought I should address some of these things I read in my comments tonight.

The estimated size of the shark responsible for the Lewis Boren incident is still one of the most greatly contested issues on the channel. I think I've figured out a way to put it to bed once and for all. It's not the most scientific of procedures, but I'm thinking of doing a podcast where I take the set of jaws from the Malta Monster that was supposedly measured at 23ft, comparing to known references in the photos, and making a comparison within my graphics software to the Lewis Boren bite marks. Would anyone be interested in a video like that?

Only watched one episode of Shark Week so far and already disappointed that they've hit a new low... they did this last year at least once as well with a few shots that they evidently couldn't get... Makozilla, at 37:30 there's a drone shot of a measuring stick that the shark was meant to swim by to get an idea of its length. Guess they couldn't get the shot, so they computer generated the shark swimming by it... and badly 😳 It's so ridiculously obvious its sickening. So Discovery has gone from fake mockumentaries, to now faking parts of their actual documentaries. Guess I can't be so surprised. There have been several episodes where the divers are supposedly talking to one another underwater, but one of the divers, or even both in some cases, aren't wearing the kind of equipment with coms... so they just overdub the dialogue later. Also very bad look. Do I want to watch anymore now? lol

Hey y'all, I know I've been quiet. Last post I had promised some podcast/talking types of videos soon, but with the shooting schedule and my constant editing on my other project I haven't been able to find the time. I've been slammed. It's a tremendous undertaking for one person to produce a quality, full-length show alone. It literally occupies all of the time I have. We only have 2 weeks of filming left, and then I'll have 6 weeks left of editing. Having the extra time once filming is finished should allow me to do some podcast type stuff, and then once I wrap up editing I'll be back to doing my regular videos as usual. As always sorry for the lapse in content. It's just the way this is going to go I'm afraid. The Campin' Kitchen is my bread and butter. Hang in there!

Really apologize to everyone for the lack of communication recently. Production started on my other project and I just wasn't able to pump that video out quick enough. The script is about 90% complete. Not to worry... It won't be 12 weeks before I create more content. I'm going to do a series of podcast style videos discussing the 4 or 5 videos I produced over the last few months. I think that is how I'm going to operate the channel... I'll produce the videos everyone loves during the break from my other production, and then while in production on the other show I'll do the podcast style videos to go more in depth on those stories and topics. So expect a podcast type of video very soon. I'm going to try and find a guest to have on so it's not just me talking to myself for 45 minutes or however long it ends up being. We'll see how it goes.

Wanted to give a quick update... after a few days I'm still scripting this particular story. Seems to be a common theme... I grossly underestimate the scope of the story I choose to adapt lol. I'm about 13 pages into the script and I'm roughly 3/4 of the way through the story. It's going to be a longer video, probably around the 16 minute mark I imagine. This one has a lot of things going on. Multiple animal attacks from different species, different sets of characters enduring different sets of struggles. Kind of on par with the Glacier Park Grizzly video I did a while back. Be patient with me. It's coming along 👍

It's taking a lot of time to put together part 2 of The Man-Eaters of Tsavo video... I want to squeeze one more video in before we begin production on The Campin' Kitchen in a couple weeks and the Tsavo one just isn't going to be ready in time... so y'all are going to get one more story before part 2. Working on it now. Keep an eye out for it, hopefully before next weekend 👍
