In 2004, Martin Scorsese encouraged Matt to give up his career in NY to pursue a film education focused on screenwriting and the study of film history. In 2008, Matt earned a MFA in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University.
Since 2010, Matt has hosted screening and Q&A events. The studios turn to Matt to moderate Academy and Emmy Q&A events. His credits include writer/director Jordan Peele (Get Out), writer/director Damien Chazelle ("Whiplash"), production designers Dave & Sandy Wasco ("La La Land"), screenwriter John Ridley ("12 Years A Slave"), actress Julia Louis–Dreyfus, actor Tony Hale and writer/director/executive producer David Mandel ("VEEP"), and director Jay Roach ("All The Way").
Matt moderates events at the San Diego Comic Con that include make-up artist Ve Neill ("Beetlejuice"), director Catherine Hardwicke ("Twilight") and press line shows that include the ensemble cast of "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power."
