During my English classes in NYC, my professor always used to tell us that if we wanted to improve our reading and writing skills, we needed to read more.
It could be anything. Fiction, novel, news, or biography. My professor was an avid reader and always encouraged us to read daily.
During our classes, he used to say all the time: "Writers are readers."
That phrase stuck in my mind, and one of the tips I give to my students is to try reading in English as much as possible.
Reading things that you enjoy is the best way to start. Besides expanding your vocabulary, it can also improve your critical thinking.
