For the last three years, I've picked one thing to improve on for a few months.
One year it was orchestration, another it was to answer the question, "what makes great drama in stories?"
I do this because I have such a massive appetite for challenging myself. And I know that each challenge I throw myself into will bring new skills to the world of music, film scores, and storytelling.
This year, I've chosen the cello, one of my favorite and most intimidating instruments. (I'm more afraid of violin, though. 😅)
I've never played cello in my life.
I'm on day six of cello, and I've logged 6.75 hours of practice. I can play a couple of scales and a few of my songs.
Whereas many of my goals have milestones months ahead, I tend to take these learning opportunities on a day-by-day basis.
I'm enjoying the journey. As always.

Playing with dynamics on the string orchestra right now. It's so tedious to get a realistic sound, but ultimately so worth it.
