The Francis Bacon Society was founded in 1886 by Constance Mary Pott in order to encourage the study of the works of Francis Bacon as philosopher, lawyer, scientist, statesman, social reformer & poet; also, his character, genius & life, his influence on his own and succeeding times, & the tendencies & results of his writing. Additionally to study the evidence in favour of Francis Bacon’s authorship of the plays ascribed to Shakespeare, and to investigate his connection with other works of the Elizabethan period.
For over 130 years Baconian scholars have produced an enormous body of work and research on the many facets of Bacon and his life which continues to the present day.
