Here is a legend. Most people would be happy to have a successful career, but birthday guy, #DaveBrown, had two successful careers. He started with #WHBQ in the 60's and wound up joining #LanceRussell as co-host of #MemphisWrestling. He also became the face of Mid-South weather.
When wrestling moved to #WMC in 1977, Dave and Lance were part of the deal. Dave would become chief meteorologist there and also narrated various videos; I remember watching a video on electricity at votech in 1992/93 that Dave narrated.
When Lance left for another organization, Dave became the lead announcer for wrestling, eventually being joined by the late #CoreyMaclin. When #CWA became #USWA, Dave and Corey continued on as the Memphis commentators.
The USWA folded in the late 90's and Randy Hales would give us fans one last hurrah with #PowerProWrestling, again with Dave and Corey as announcers. When it was cancelled, Dave would host Memphis Classic Wrestling with Corey, #JerryLawler, #JimmyHart, and sometimes Lance.
Dave retired in 2015 and turns 79 today!

#ConwayTwitty is an acquired taste. If you don't like him, acquire some taste! He is said to be the best friend a song ever had. Born Harold Jenkins, he started out as a rocker for #MGM in the 50's and could hold his own with anybody. A few years later, he abruptly announced his switch to country music. Perhaps some thought it a gimmick even. He would prove them wrong in no time, racking up hit after hit as a solo act and then as a duet partner with #LorettaLynn. No one would ever question his motives again! He would be 92 today.

We'll kill two birds with one stone here. The legendary #JerryReed has been gone for 17 years tomorrow. Here he is with RCA label-mate #ChetAtkins doing the #HankWilliams #countrygospel standard for today's #GospelSunday #SundayGospel selection.

The legendary #FredMacMurray was born on this day in 1908. He was a fixture in movies for years, he was the lead actor in #MyThreeSons as #StevenDouglas, and he was the inspiration for #CaptainAmerica!

#OnThisDay in 1949, #HankWilliams stepped into the #HerzogStudio in #Cincinnati for a recording session. He had already made country music history in late 1948 when he recorded "Lovesick Blues" there. This time, however, he recorded another eventual classic, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry." Hank originally meant it to be a recitation in his Luke the Drifter style but added a melody.
Upon initial release, it was relegated to the "B" side of "My Bucket's Got a Hole in It" due to the jumpy sides garnering the most attention at the jukebox. Still, there was no denying the beauty that The Hillbilly Shakespeare had penned.
#BJThomas revived it for the pop market in 1966. #ElvisPresley said it was the saddest song he'd ever heard. Cover versions by artists as diverse as #TheEverlyBrothers, #LeonRussell, and #AlGreen. Even football legend #TerryBradshaw performed it!

I had a comment yesterday about the sound quality being better on some of my transfers than some reissue CDs. I wanted to take just a minute to describe my process.
Years before I got into restoration, I saw an ad for a guy who did it as a business and his motto was "we don't put your treasures on an assembly line." I love that motto! I've been interested in audio restoration since I was a teenager and young adult when I started buying historical CDs and albums.
I obviously start with the raw 78 and use audio capture software. I save it as a .wav file and then have a software suite that has 3 individual programs. I remove clicks, ticks, pops, and crackle first. It has multiple filters depending on how rough the 78 is. Then I use a rumble reduction program followed by a noise filter that has individual settings for 78, vinyl, or white noise. I try to strike a delicate balance of leaving as much of the high end as possible while killing noise. Sometimes I will give it a second pass with the filter set higher to catch stray noise.
Once that's done, I go back to the audio capture software and open up the restored file. I split it into tracks (I record both sides together) and name the files. It also gives me the ability to tweak the equalization if I want to put it a little more bass or raise the high end a bit. Then I save as .wav files again and use Windows Movie Maker to do the video.
I'll be happy to tell you what software I use, but none of it is available anymore. The audio capture is Polderbits 64 bit version. I bought it years ago. The problem is that you have to have a license key and the owner passed several years ago. I'm only licensed to my computer and would have to obtain a new license if I switched computers. My suite is Declick/Derumble/Denoise. An engineer in Australia designed it. He also has passed away. With it, though, he told me the license would transfer without a hassle. This might present an issue if I ever change computers! I'm running an old Windows 7 machine that's about 13 years old. It still does everything I need, so I don't plan on replacing it. Yes, not to worry, everything is backed up! 😁

As I get older, so many of my childhood favorites are leaving this earthly abode. #TheDukesOfHazzard was absolute essential viewing every Friday night. Several members of the main cast have left us, but we still have #SonnyShroyer who portrayed Enos Strate on the show and he even got his own spin-off for 13 episodes! He turns the big 90 today! Why Warner Brothers failed to add "Enos" as a bonus to the Dukes DVD set is thoroughly beyond my understanding. There are a couple of episodes on YouTube taken from BetaMax in pretty good quality; one person stated that Sonny has the entire run on BetaMax, but so far only 2 episodes have turned up.
Fun fact: when George Strait became popular in the early 80's, my dad was convinced it was Enos Strate! 😂😂😂

I'm simply a lover of music. I grew up listening to Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Elvis, Billy Crash Craddock, Herman's Hermits, Dave Clark Five, and so many other singers and groups. When I got old enough to drive I was out scouring flea markets and junk stores for records and 8-tracks. Over the years my collection has grown due to that, online sites, friends who have given me music, etc. I am now at a point that I have well over 50,000 songs on my computer. Although my main love is gospel and country, you don't know from day to day what mood might strike me. I might be uploading Jimmy Swaggart one day and 1920's vocal groups like Criterion Quartet the next day. I truly have an eclectic taste.
If you would like to support me it would be ever so much appreciated. I'm not here to give a sob story, but I am currently fighting for my disability, so any help would be great! I don't have a Patreon account (yet) but you can donate via PayPal:
