Our friends at Karima have a new course!

As we watch the brutal Israeli occupation create a new frontier in the Gaza strip, countless university students have taken the bold moral stance to challenge their institutions involvement with Israeli universities, investments, and defence industry. Settler colonialism is opposed fully by Islam so it is no surprise that many students in the University encampments are Muslim. Nevertheless, much of the discourse against colonialism is grounded in, among others, decolonial thought. The conundrum for Muslims; how to reflect their faith while undoing coloniality? Are aspects of decolonial programs and scholarship antithetical to Islam? If so, to what extent can we reconcile between the two?

Join us for this 5-week course were we tackle these questions, explore what decoloniality is and dissecting it vis-à-vis Islam. There will be responses, critiques and also attempts at reconciling Islam and decoloniality. This is a very important course for any Muslim interested in activism, politics and political philosophy. The sessions will mostly run on Wednesdays with times being announced the week before due to time zone differences.

*Imam Tom Facchine is in the UK!*

Muslims have been navigating the politics of the Western hemisphere for the last couple of centuries, and, in more recent times, have become more cognisant of trying to center their Islam in any political project they instigate.

Our two main speakers have both, in their own unique way, been presenting ideas on how Muslim in the West should understand politics, and also the path they should take for the revival of Muslim political thinking in the UK and US.

Join us as we host these three amazingly gifted scholars, each with their own understandings and attempted grappling with the current Muslim context in the West, as we attempt a deep dive into their visions and plans moving forward.

Eid Mubarak to you all; to those who resist the American empire and her settler colonies, to those who fight for justice, to those who show resilience, and to those who show patience with faith.
Our joy is muted by our pain. We pray for better times and a just world order.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Once again, we meet this month with hope and sadness. Our ummah in Gaza and around the world cannot share in our comforts. Let's make this month one of spiritual renewal, intellectual clarity and political awakening.
