A vital part of the Central Texas music scene, the Orchestra began in 1977, the vision of a determined left-handed cellist, Edward Sledge, and a supportive, enthusiastic community school administrator, Mac Payne. The orchestra performs six to eight concerts each season, offering programming to suit a wide variety of musical tastes, from traditional classics to pops and most everything in between.
