Wait, what? Someone in the comments thought I was in Africa, so let’s set the record straight: nope, this is Papua New Guinea! It’s a country in the South Pacific near Australia, full of incredible melanated people who some folks might assume are in Africa just because of how they look. But hey, let’s learn something new today! Honestly, I made this kind of mix-up myself in the past. It’s kind of like how people confuse Sweden and Switzerland. They’re two completely different countries with very different cultures, languages, and histories, yet people lump them together just because the names sound similar. Acknowledging you don’t know is always better than assuming things. The more I travel, the more I realize how big this world is and how much I didn’t know. And here we are in Papua New Guinea, meeting people who have their own distinct culture and history, far from the African continent. So let’s take this as a chance to learn. The world is vast, and the people in it are diverse and beautiful in all sorts of places you might not expect. Let’s celebrate that and keep exploring! https://youtu.be/uhER8COer3w

Today marks the anniversary of Anthony Bourdain's passing.

Before YouTube became the go-to platform for travel content, many of us discovered the world from our living rooms through television. And one of the voices that brought those distant places to life was Anthony Bourdain. With shows like No Reservations and later Parts Unknown, he redefined travel, using food as a bridge to understand people, culture, and the human experience.

Bourdain left behind more than just episodes and quotes he sparked a movement. He inspired an entire generation of travelers and content creators, myself included, to look deeper than what’s on the surface.

Today, I’m releasing a video where I visit the last location he filmed. It’s also the final place he stayed. I had the opportunity to spend the night at Le Chambard, the same hotel where he spent his last days, and to explore the nearby town of Colmar, where he was working on showcasing the beauty and culture of the Alsace region.

In this video, I retrace his stepsnot to dwell on the ending, but to reflect on the legacy that continues to live through so many of us. This is my tribute to Bourdain, and I invite you to watch, reflect, and remember the impact he had on how we see the world.

Thank you for taking the time to be part of this reflection. I hope this video inspires you, the same way his work continues to inspire me. https://youtu.be/r1b5T6geyQE
