Ryanair ✈️ plans to resume flights to Ukraine within weeks of a ceasefire, The Telegraph reports

According to CEO Michael O'Leary, flights could restart 4-6 weeks after a formal ceasefire, as this is required for approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Initially, 24 routes are planned, serving Kyiv and Lviv. These airports remain operational, with infrastructure like baggage carousels being tested weekly to maintain readiness.

Flights to Odesa may take longer due to damage to the local airport, while connections to cities like Kherson will be postponed indefinitely due to the destruction of airport infrastructure.

12 Ukrainian Children 🇺🇦 Return Home After Facing Forced Russification and Conscription Risks

Twelve more Ukrainian children have been returned home from Russian-occupied territories as part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s "Bring Kids Back UA" initiative. These children endured significant challenges while under occupation but are now reunited with their families, according to Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine on February 3.

Among those rescued is a 16-year-old girl who tragically lost her mother due to inadequate medical care in the occupied region. Another case involves a 17-year-old boy who was at risk of being forcibly conscripted into the Russian army.

Several other children had been sent to so-called "re-education camps," where efforts were made to erase their Ukrainian identity. Additionally, an 8-year-old girl was rescued after her father faced pressure to accept Russian citizenship under the threat of losing custody of his child.

Former UK Member of Parliament Jack Lopresti has joined Ukraine’s Defense and Security Forces, according to The Independent on February 4. Lopresti, previously a Conservative MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke in Gloucestershire, has been living in Ukraine and contributing his expertise to support the country’s defense efforts.

In November 2024, he applied to join Ukraine’s International Legion, a unit formed of foreign volunteers aiding Ukraine.

“I submitted my application in November. It took some time to find the right unit where my experience and skills could be best utilized,” The Independent quotes Lopresti as saying.

Lopresti, who previously served in the UK Army Reserve with the rank of corporal, is not in a frontline infantry unit. Instead, his role includes external relations, procurement of military equipment, and engagement with veterans and charitable organizations working in Ukraine.

🇺🇦 Zelenskyy: Ukraine Received $76 Billion in US Aid, Not $200 Billion as Some Claim

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine has received approximately $76 billion of the $177 billion in aid approved by the United States. The statement, made during an interview with The Associated Press on February 2.

“When I hear – both in the past and even now – from the US that America has provided Ukraine with hundreds of billions [of dollars] 177, to be precise, based on what Congress approved, as the president of a nation at war, I can tell you – we’ve received more than US$75 billion,” Zelenskyy stated.

“So, when people talk about US$177 billion or even US$200 billion, we’ve never received that. That’s important. We’re talking about tangible things because this aid didn’t come as cash but rather as weapons, which amounted to about US$70 billion,” he added.

The President emphasized that Ukraine had not received $200 billion.

NATO “Must Prepare for War,” Says Chief Rutte

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has urged member states to prepare for potential conflicts by increasing defense spending and strengthening military capabilities. According to Rutte, ensuring readiness is the best way to prevent war, particularly in light of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Speaking to Bild, Rutte emphasized that Europe must not show weakness, warning that otherwise, Russia could attempt actions similar to those in Ukraine. “I’ll tell you very clearly: We have to prepare for war. That is the best way to avoid war,” Rutte said. He also pointed to China as a growing security concern, noting its significant expansion of military capabilities.

Rutte specifically called on Germany to enhance its defense investments and production, stating that, given the size of its economy, Berlin should contribute more to NATO’s collective security efforts. While he acknowledged Germany’s role in supporting Ukraine, he stressed that further commitments were necessary.

Zelenskyy 🇺🇦: US-Russia Talks Without Ukraine Are Dangerous for All

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that any negotiations between the United States and Russia on ending the war that does not include Ukraine would be “very dangerous for everyone.” He emphasized that Kyiv and Washington must continue discussions to develop a plan for a ceasefire.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Zelenskyy stated that Russia is unwilling to engage in negotiations aimed at ending hostilities, as the Kremlin perceives any such discussions as a sign of weakness while its forces maintain a battlefield advantage.

The Ukrainian President also addressed recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump, who claimed that American and Russian officials had already engaged in “very serious” discussions about ending the war. Trump did not specify the details of these talks. Zelenskyy stressed that while the US and Russia may have their own relations, excluding Ukraine from conversations about the war would pose significant risks.
