Don’t try to catch a falling knife
When there is a sudden sell-off in the market, stocks become cheaper, hence more attractive, but there are exceptions to this…
Don’t try to catch a falling knife is a sentence used in the context of financial markets as a warning to investors: just because something has become cheaper, it doesn’t necessarily mean that this is a good time to buy. It’s impossible to know when the security will reach its bottom hence the sell off may have more room to go. Being greedy at the wrong time trying to mark the market can be hurtful.
A more proven strategy involves buying in constant increments spaced out in time: this way we end up buying at an average price. To further hedge the risk, it’s advisable to buy ETFs and Index Funds – which give access to hundreds of companies rather than single stocks
PS: New video this weekend :)

I passed my exam! I've been very mysterious about it but I was studying for the CFA ESG qualification.
Is not expensive compared to other CFA exams (£485) and is a nice one to have considering the growth in job offerings related to sustainability in finance as big and small investors try to up their game in ESG. I leave you with this autumn selfie and I will see you at the weekend with a new video, speak then!

Hi Lovely People! I am working on a series of shorts where I go through the most common financial jargon, if there's any concepts you'd like me to explain feel free to drop a comment here. On a separate note, I am studying for an exam which I'll be doing very soon so I will publish less often until the end of the month.. Nevertheless I have a long video coming up this week on stock selection so make sure to watch that :)
Last but not least, I am immensely grateful to each and everyone of you who subscribed. 1536 is a big number and I didn't think would get here so soon. Much love and catch you presto
