Private sellers in the UK: starting today, eBay is no longer charging you any fees to sell on their platform across all categories (except cars). For now there are no buyer fees either, though it sounds like that may change in the future. Is the United States next? www.ebayinc.com/stories/news/ebay-announces-free-sā¦

When someone asks "what's the lowest you can go?" the best response is "what's the highest you can go?" Also: yesterday I found a vintage gen 1 mask from the movie SCREAM at a thrift store. Not bad for $4! :)

Although it's rarely mentioned in the same breath as Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, and others, I consider eBay the first (and still the most easily accessible and potentially profitable) "job" in the gig economy.
It's easy to forget that, as an eBay seller, you are providing a service. Most consumers don't want to go to 73 garage sales or dig through the Goodwill bins to find the perfect vintage jean jacket, and they are happy to pay you to do that for them. Just like some hungry people don't want to get off the couch to pick up food, and they're happy to pay a DoorDash driver to do it for them. (But with eBay you don't go home smelling like burgers!)
The service you're providing as an eBay seller is procurement. Your reward for providing this scavenger hunting service is the profit margin found between buying low and selling high.
For many, selling on eBay is their first experience of having financial independence. This is why I like to call it the "gateway drug to entrepreneurship." It's an amazing feeling to earn money on your own terms, and for many, selling on eBay is the first real taste of that. But there is a whole buffet out there for the taking if you work hard, stay consistent, and maintain discipline. Go get it.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

If you listed an item for $95 and it sold immediately, then realized it was worth over $1,500, what would you do?
