If you lived or visited Washington, DC's party scene in the 90s then it's likely you have heard of DJ REK. Best known for the party that kicked off 18th Street Lounge ( Exodus) or another spot called Retaliation. Rek went on to spin in other spaces such as Kafe House, and Cafe Nema just to mention a few. Rek came up in DC from a graffiti crew known as HOODS OF ART. He gets some of his stylings from the legendary Marley Marl, and Pete Rock, and is centered on Soul, Funk, Progressive Jazz, Hip-Hop, and R&B.
