Greasy ropes… This is the same rope. It was white a few weeks ago. The last 20 meters is in use, the rest is rigged to rescue in a bag. The last few meters are completely covered in grease and this tapers of the further you get from the end. This rope is used on a big crane inspection job where everything is greasy and it is impossible to keep the rope clean.
For the conversation, when would you retire a rope like this, what are your considerations for retiring?
I am interested to hear your thoughts on this and how you treat this where you work.
Leave a comment and get this conversation started😃

If I were to do a Youtube livestream at the ‪@IndustrieelKlimmenBV‬ training facility, what would be some of the things you would like to see?
Rope access rescue's?
Rigging?
Technical rope rescue?
Whiteboard theoreticals?
Q&A (could be done while performing rope access rescues of course)
Be specific what you would want to see so I can narrow it down.

No video today. I am still editing this one and Christmas dinner is waiting. So the Complex pulley systems will have to wait till tomorrow.
Here are two of the systems. One will be in the video and one won't have a go at them. You can also check out the ones from the frame grab.
Have fun ;-)

The Rope Access Channel Logo Stories Part 4/15
This was a COLD one! Where we now have a beautiful warm start of november in The Netherlands, We had a really cold one in 2019. Ropes were frozen to the roof in the mornings.
The job was to find and repair a leak in the facade of the top 2 floors of this appartment building. Rigging was to the window washer lift and I remember quite challenging to deviate to the corners. I can't find any photos of it though. Maybe there is a reason for that haha.
You can tell it was called because my partner in crime Henk Jan was putting on gloves and a coat! He never does that!
Good times!

The Rope Access Channel Logo Stories Part 3/15
If I remember correctly, I took this photo on an offshore windcampaign where we had multiple scopes. One was cleaning bird shit of the Transition Pieces which you can see in the photo and the other was an inspection of the fall arrest system and some other things on a nearby tower. We had great views at 115 meters. We also had to deal with a busted winch where, after a risk assessment, we used and actsafe winch to lift our gear.
This part wasn't necessarily rope access and is something you do run into sometimes. Come to think of it, we went up and down the tower on ropes. So still rope access😜

The edit for day 3 of Grimpday is almost done. I’ve been to busy with windturbine work to finish. But don’t worry, it is coming👍🏼👍🏼

The last few weeks have been extremely busy with a LOT of different projects. As a result I did not finish the edit of the final day of the Grimpday competition.
Here are some photo's of what kept me busy.
Photo 1 and 2 are of a day a spent at the ‪@roninrescue6011‬ Rescue the rescuer training. I did film a little there and I haven't had the time to check it out or edit it. We put on Linegrip LTD TS3 Linescale to good use during a break some ropes and find out what happens next scenario. If you want to see how we got to 5.31kN, stay tuned.
After that Alan (‪@ropegeeks2184‬ ) got in a jam (photo 2) and needed rescueing while rescueing. If you get my drift 😜😜
I also got a whole lot of new ‪@courantverticalliving2363‬ ropes which I am quite excited about but have not been able to use because the longest are 100 meter and I only worked on 105 and 135 meter high windturbines since soaking them for 24 hours.
And that is photo 4. A great day out doing some cleaning! Fun times🤙🏼🤙🏼

What was you latest rope access job or training?
