Shout out to The Monster Merchants - I won one of their competitions and got to pick a piece of artwork from their store, and had to go with possibly my favourite bit of artwork from the old 3.5 edition Chaos Codex - featuring Abaddon!
As a kid I remember I'd spend tonnes of time looking at this picture when I would flick through the codex. This picture can be really difficult to find in high quality online too.
So safe to say its really cool to have it framed, ready for display (at some point) in the future!

Tyranid Test Schemes!
So I randomly fell into having a bunch of Tyranids recently, but haven't been able to decide what scheme I wanted to go with. I'm not a huge fan of most of the main hive fleets I have seen (at least not the idea of painting them), and was fairly convinced I wanted to go full Giger Xenomorph influenced. I was watching a Midwinter Minis video and spotted the Retro scheme and fell in love with the idea, but I did the sensible thing and did a couple of test models from the model of the month stash, and I'm considering myself convinced. Retro it is.
This will make a great break from all the dark and dingy models I normally do with Black Legion, and whilst the contrast method helps you get results quicker, there'll be less room for error since not everything is buried in dark Shadows.

TRAITOR ENFORCER/OGRYN PART 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
The traitor chums are back again. I have the usual videos recorded, and managed to get some nice pics done in the light box.
I've been chipping away at these chaps the last few days and got then to a good enough state. I think I might still touch up on the scars on the Enforcer's face to give them a bit more prominence, but otherwise all OK!
I have now a...few...traitor guard to get painted up and ready for tabletop/a pile to be displayed eventually...I love batch painting. 🙄

SLAP CHOP SUEY!
Finally got around to prepping these guys.
I'm grinding through backlog at the moment ahead of the imminent weather changes (no airbrush for me) so everything is ready to be picked up and painted. I had managed to get hold of the Blackstone Fortress Box and split with a friend, so I've took those traitor guard (and the extra psyker models in the back) and paired them with Kill Team Blooded to make a small Traitor Guard horde. Primed with Chaos Black Spray, overbrushed with Eshin Grey, and given an extra strong lick of ProAcryl Titanium White paint - ready for Contrast+ Goodness.

Managed to snag one of the brand new Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol magazines being pushed out by Hachette today (UK), and decided to assemble the Winged Tyranid Prime and the Space Marine Captain included in issue 1.
Thinking about trying out Hive Fleet Giger (appropriate given we have a new Alien film out) for the Tyranid, but not sure about how I want to paint the Marine. I tend to like doing different schemes every time I get one so I can just do something a little different. Blood Angels? Imperial Fists? not sure.
Either way, this is a great, cheap way to get some painting practice, a new collection of models of you want more variety, or If you are new, this is actually a really good value way (long term at least) on getting a whole load of models at a discount rate

Pardon the shocking lighting (and equally poor photos), but tonight I've been making some Green Stuff straps to attempt to make these Night Lords from the Nemesis Claw Kill Team into Chosen for my Black Legion.
The single biggest issue with this dumb unit is that you take a lot of weapons you pretty much can't fit onto every model. In the actual chosen kit you get some cool backpack fixtures to hold boltguns, so I decided to just mimic this with a strap instead and...I think it looks OK!
This is only my third time working with Green Stuff, but I'm starting to get the hang of it, and pleased with how this came out. Obviously the real judgment will be once it's painted!

This is one I've been super excited to get done, and whilst the base is something I haven't yet got going (though given the Maulerfiend Base is a bit bigger than the Gothizzar Harvester base, I have nice real estate to work with), I'm really pleased with how this has turned out. I'm still very new to working with green stuff, so the flesh could be better, but it turned out well enough for me.
I'll be doing a short video covering the bits I used and what I was going for, as well as colours used for the paint scheme, once I have the base sorted.
