It’s with great sadness to announce Ponyo our 3 year old Pomeranians passing. She was diagnosed with a rare disease called GME a type of immune disease similar to meningitis with the severity of brain cancer which is always terminal; survival rate can be as short as a week so the extra time we got with her was precious, she was 85% blind, her back legs were paralyzed, and she had cluster headaches/migranes that we managed to get into remission with treatment.

We had insurance and saw a neurologist and with the help of many rounds of chemotherapy and prednisone she was able to at least get into remission and live over a year after diagnosis with us, unfortunately the treatment was so hard on her she developed Cushing a disease and organ failure; the doctor said she didn’t have much time left so we chose euthanasia as the vet said she had severe muscle loss and the reason for her massive weight loss and lack of appetite was from kidney failure and lethargy.

She was an amazing dog who came all the way from the Ukraine and we will never forget her amazing temperament and the doctor said it was the most gentle and well behaved Pomeranian she had ever met in all her years of practise.

Her last moments was peaceful and the doctor had to give her methadone similar to morphine and she was relieved of her pain and managed to crack one last smile at the end. The doctor said this was indicative that the same old happy dog was inside but the reduced quality of life and pain had sapped her of that joy and that this was the most ethical path to take which was so hard.

Thanks to everyone who has ever visited Ponyo when she was sick or said hello when I brought her around, your company, compassion and your empathy im sure was highly valued by that sweet little angel!

She got awesome last three weeks after talking to the doctor about her condition to make a bucket list and she saw a bunch of people, ate a bunch of special food, and even help us make some nice paintings, she was such a good girl and we will always miss her.

All dogs go to heaven! 🐶😇
