Who is Arstan Whitebeard? unexpected valor of an unlikely hero. Arstan Whitebeard decisively saves Daenerys from The Titan’s Bastard in their camp outside tof Meereen. Witness the courage and skill of this unlikely savior as he defends the Mother of Dragons.

at the end of book 2, A clash of Kings, Illyrio sends the old squire Arstan Whitebeard, alongside the huge eunuch Belwas to Qarth to bring Queen Daenerys Targaryen back to Pentos.

Arstan Whitebeard and Strong Belwas sail east on the three ships of Captain Groleo, which visit New Ghis before arriving at Qarth. They follow Daenerys and Ser Jorah Mormont, who are trying to find passage on the ships docked at the port of Qarth. Jorah notices them and becomes suspicious. When a Sorrowful Man attempts to assassinate Daenerys by presenting her with a box containing a manticore, Arstan Whitebeard knocks the manticore from her hands and kills it. Arstan Whitebeard and Belwas introduced themselves and they tell Daenerys that Illyrio had sent them to serve her, and bring her back to Pentos, as there were four kings in Westeros when they left Pentos, and no justice.

in the 3rd book, A storm of Swords, on their way to Pentos Arstan Whitebeard discusses with Daenerys her dragons, her father, King Aerys II, and her brother, Prince Rhaegar. Ser Jorah distrusts Arstan and Belwas, pointing out that Arstan speaks out too brazenly for a mere squire. Rather than sail to Pentos, Daenerys chooses to sail on Groleo's ships to Astapor to buy Unsullied. Arstan disapproves of buying slaves, and when Daenerys asks how she is to win Westeros without an army, he replies that half of Westeros would support her because of Rhaegar.

#jonsnow from the books is More than just a brooding hero. From the icy halls of Winterfell to the unforgiving lands beyond the Wall, Jon Snow’s path is fraught with challenges and self-discovery. Born into a world that shunned him for his bastard status, Jon’s journey begins with a chip on his shoulder and a longing for acceptance. As a teenager thrust into the political turmoil of Westeros, he grapples with his identity, torn between duty and personal desires.

Part of what makes Jon so beloved is the relatability of his desires: he’s looking for purpose, identity, and a place to call home. In his heart of hearts, Jon Snow wants to be a good person. He also wants to be found worthwhile. He spent most of his childhood fantasizing about becoming an epic hero because that comes with praise. He even wanted to inherit Winterfell for a time despite his love for his siblings.

After 14 years of being an outsider, his last name an inescapable brand of damnation, Jon joining the Night’s Watch challenges his self-image. His arc is a journey of self-discovery, aiming to do the right thing and messing up frequently despite his best intentions.
