I hope that you are having an amazing weekend! Our 19th anniversary was in the middle of our no-power-house-hopping-week. We celebrated a week late with brunch at Bosscat, a not-so-romantic trip to ikea (I needed some storage totes and their prices are tough to beat), and then to Buff City Soap to make some laundry detergent⌠Iâm obsessed! Then we put on our PJs and worked on cleaning out the office so we can turn it into a filming studio!!
I think that we need to go somewhere for year 20 that is not in the path of a hurricane!
The Orange Callie Halter dress from my City Chic Wedding Guest video was awesome in this heat and humidity (and looked cute, too!!)

We got Power back on Sunday Evening!!
This is really longâŚ
A few take-away from this storm:
It was so easy to focus on the negative, but so much healthier to put energy into to the positive.
We had 7 days without power, which really stunk, but we had everything we needed. We floated between my parentsâ and brotherâs homes - they both lost power, too, but had generators. You are the most wonderful people in the world⌠I would be lost in this life without you!
There is so much love and goodness out there.
We had nearly a dozen people offer us a place to stay (thank you- I love you!)
We have over 2,000 homes in our neighborhood and neighbors with generators posted open invitations to charge phones, brew coffee, and store food.
Linemen came from all over the US to help us- thank you!!
We had quality time with family. My niece started to cry when she found out that we had power because she did not want us to leave!
My little family is pretty dang amazing. We had no real damage, but our yard was a mess. My mom asked my daughter if she wanted to stay with her, but Rebecca wanted to help clean up. She spent 2 hours in 95 degree temps working her booty off!
It could have been so much worse. We had 13 days without power during Ike. We have neighbors on day 8 going to bed without power tonight. We had over 500 mature pine trees fall in our neighborhood, many destroying properties. I am 100% aware of how blessed I am.
I had surgery and a hurricane within 6 weeks of each other and feel like I am perpetually behind at the moment. Working on giving myself the grace to that I would extend any friend in this situation (while also really stressing out about deadlines and âexcusesâ)
I just wanted to put a huge thank you out to you. I have had cruddy cell service, but reading comments and well wishes has really helped bolster my mood. I ham so thankful to have this community of loving beautiful soulsâ¤ď¸

How are my Texas folks doing?? We are on day 3 of no power/internet and intermittent cell signal - but, we are all healthy and our home made it through with little damage. Centerpoint says to expect several more days without power due to the crazy number of downed power lines. We have been staying with family that have generators and are doing alright.
Today we went home to clean up our yard and our fridge. Such a mess, but driving around and visiting neighbors helped us see how blessed we are!
The next video will come out when power/internet return. I lucked out on the Bloomchic video, I had uploaded it as an unlisted video to send to the company before the storm hit and was able to schedule it from my phone!
