Felipe Fiuza is Brazilian, black and resident of the periphery of Paranoá. He studied classical percussion and through this influence a research involving luthiery and construction of alternative musical instruments through scrap, especially Marimba.
The Som de Sobra project is the result of more than nine years of research on instruments constructed from scrap metal. In this solo work, Felipe Fiuza mixes part of his instrumental collection while using the live loop to bring together all the children he created. His musical experience allows him to mix all these rhythms creating an experimental percussive sound.
In Som de Sobra, Fiúza shows that it is possible to create sustainable melodies that please both the ears and the environment. The percussive mix with electronic timbres shows expression of this unique sound.
