Saeid Shanbehzadeh is a prominent Iranian musician and dancer known for his expertise in the traditional music
of southern Iran, particularly from the Bushehr region. He was born in 1968 in Boushehr, Iran, where music and dance was a big part of the people’s life.
He is a master of the ney-anban (a type of bagpipe) and
the ney-jofti (double reed pipe), as well as traditional percussion instruments like the dammam. Shanbehzadeh is celebrated for his ability to blend the rich cultural heritage of southern Iranian music with
contemporary sounds, creating a unique fusion that resonates with audiences worldwide. His performances often
include vibrant and rhythmic melodies that reflect the multicultural influences of the Persian Gulf region, including
Persian, Lor, Balutch, Arab, Jewish, African, Indian and Gypsy cultures.
Many of his works are rooted in rituals like Zar ceremonies, which involve music and dance as a form of spiritual
healing.
