✨🥔 Hey Tater Tots! 🥔✨

Thanks so much for your patience while Chaotic Potato has been knee-deep another makeover adventure for you guys.

This time, the room on the chopping block is a DUO PERSON COWORKING HOME OFFICE 👯‍♂️💻
and let me tell you... it definitely came with its own set of quirks and challenges:

1️⃣ First of all, the room itself is a funky-wunky shape where every wall is a different length. This made furniture placement tricky and even things like window coverings needed custom solutions. 🪟🪄

2️⃣ On top of that, my two friends who use this room, have wildly different tastes and personalities. Designing a space that reflects both of them without making it feel like two different rooms glued together has been a crazy puzzle to work on.

Right now we’re in the final stretch and I’ve even been camping out at their place some nights to make sure everything’s ready before their big return from Asia in the next few days 🌏✈️.

It's crunch time, I'm covered in bruises and am going a little stir-crazy from working alone but this is the most exciting time because i'm finally starting to see the forest from the trees! I can't wait to share the final result with them and then all of you in the upcoming video where I've documented the whole chaotic process. And i mean CHAOTIC. which i guess is on brand.

👉 In the meantime, enjoy this little sneak peek of the Before and a teeny glimpse of the in-between. ⚠️ If you’re Sara or Nick: STOP SCROLLING NOW. 🚫👀

Stay tuned! I will be editing new videos as soon as I have my hands free!
Thank you all for being here.

Hello all ❤️

It’s been a little quiet on my YouTube but not because I’ve vanished into the ETHER. I’ve been deep in behind-the-scenes land, and I’ve got some exciting news to share.

Up until now, my DIY makeovers were just fun little projects I did for myself and close friends. But lately, the demand has grown waaay beyond what I expected... and I’m finally making it official:

🎉 I just started my own little ONE-WOMAN-TORNADO home makeover service that’s all about helping people take the blah out of their spaces.

Every time I walk into a room that feels “off,” I see all the untapped potential waiting to make that space feel more alive and I’m so excited that I get to expand my reach all over the greater Vancouver Area with these upcoming projects.

The last few weeks I’ve been working hard to formalize the process of onboarding each client to provide a comfortable and fun experience.
(Peep the info kit screenshots in this post!)

To everyone who’s already snagged a limited spot this year: THANK YOU for trusting this untrained space elf with your home 🧚‍♀️

And yes, I will be documenting everything on YouTube, because I deeply want to demystify the process of making spaces feel true-to-you.

Videos are coming! Thank you for bearing with me! The juggle of new clients, makeover logistics, and video editing takes time (if anyone knows a video editor that can handle my chaos, plz send them my way).

p.s. YouTube only let me post 5 pics to this post. If you want to see more, find the full post on my instagram www.instagram.com/whachuupto/

I'm about to resurrect an old video I put to rest.

About 7 months ago, I posted a Chit Chat video where I sat down and shared a bit about my history with making videos, why I started this channel and my ultimate dream for its future 🎥💛 But it wasn't long before I felt silly for sharing all that online… so I ended up setting the video to private 😅

HOWEVER—there are so many new faces here now (hi hi 👋💫) and I'd love to welcome you all and allow you to know the potato in front of the camera a bit better.
So I'm bringing the video back from the grave.
It’s a little chatty, a little ramble-y and hopefully i can fight the urge to hide it again but ...
for now ... you can watch it here.

And to all the fearless potatoes 🥔💪 who’ve joined the fam recently—welcome. I’m so happy you’re here!

p.s. near the end of the video I share how I want to eventually take my untrained, non-designer chaos and work on creating spaces for other people to enjoy.
well in a few hours, I am literally making a trip to IKEA to prepare for just that.
Stay tuned for a full makeover for my friend's hobby/office/pet room! watch video on watch page

HELLO POTATOES ✨WE MADE IT — WE ARE officially a YouTube Partner!!✨

I can’t believe I get to say this… but WhaChuUpTo has officially JUST hit the YouTube Partner milestone!! That means over 1,000 of you have subscribed and we've passed 4,000+ watch hours requirement for monetization — WHAT?! I'm so grateful, humbled, and honestly still in shock that this little passion project is growing this way. 🥹

This moment means so much more than just a badge or monetization. Even the smallest income from ads now helps me fund upcoming makeover projects I’m doing for friends and folks in my community. Eventually I'm working to branch out to create joyful home spaces to more people out of my circle and you have all brought me one step closer to that.

A huge welcome to everyone who found me through my latest studio tour video — your comments, messages, and kind words have meant the world. Two comments mentioned Michelle Yeoh in relation to me and while I have trouble seeing the resemblance, know that it has officially gotten to my head and I will never walk the same again. 🤣

This is just the beginning, but it already feels like such a special moment. Thank you for being here. Thank you for watching. And thank you for reminding me that creating cozy, thoughtful spaces can genuinely connect people - because we all deserve to live in homes that fuel our cute little souls.

Can’t wait to share more with you soon 🫶

Hey fam, 💛

It’s been almost two months since my last video, and I just wanted to take a moment to apologize for stepping away. I’ve been thinking about you all, and I truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. 🙏

Honestly, the past couple of months have been a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally (I’m not ready to dive deep into it right now, but maybe one day I will). With that came some tough decisions and major life changes, which made me seriously question whether I should keep going with this channel or wrap it up and move on. 😔

There were a lot of personal reasons that made continuing to post feel hard, and I even thought about starting fresh with a new channel—or maybe just stepping away from making videos altogether. It’s been a mental tug-of-war trying to figure out what feels right.

But after doing some serious reflection, I realized it doesn’t have to be that complicated. At the end of the day:

A) I love making videos. 🎥
B) I have a truly amazing, supportive community here that I cherish deeply. 💖
C) And my mama (and TP) didn’t raise no quitter. 😂

So, here’s where I’m at: I’m not giving up on you guys, and I’m not giving up on this chaotic potato. Thank you for being patient while I find my footing again. I’m working on a plan for 2025, and I’m excited to see what the future holds! 🌱

To everyone out there pushing forward and doing their thing—JUST KEEP SWIMMING.

🚨 New Video Alert! 🎥

Hey Spuds! Now that we've reached 1000 lil potatoes here, I thought I'd film a more intimate chat with you all to share some background to how I got here. 🎙️ This one’s all about my journey to starting this YouTube channel — talking about my history of making videos, my thoughts on being a "YouTuber" thus far, and my ultimate dream for this channel.

Side note: In true noob creator fashion, I accidentally closed my video editing program without saving and lost about two days of work 😅💔 The only thing worse than having to edit yourself for hours, is having to edit yourself for hours AGAIN.

But after a little breakdown, I’m back on track and couldn’t be happier to finally share this with you - and not listen to my voice for a little while.

Would love for you to tune in and share your thoughts on if it's a format you'd like to see again.

Much 💛
CHU.

Wait a minute. What just happened⁉️ WE JUST HIT ONE THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS YESTERDAY❗️

7️⃣ years ago, a younger, blonder but still DIY-loving ChuChu posted her first video on this YouTube Channel. This was after 7️⃣ years of her wanting to start a channel but talking herself out of it.
So she posted this video on making a faux brick wall… and was only able to leave it up for a few hours before the CRINGE overcame her and she had to take it down. 🪦

Fast forward 7️⃣+ years, it’s FEBRUARY of this year, and I decide to post on this channel once again, with the rule that whatever I make, I will NOT TAKE DOWN. 🤙

7️⃣+ months later, AND WE JUST HIT OUR FIRST 1000 SUBSCRIBERS. 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 of you awesome humans decided to hit that subscribe button? Someone pinch me. SMACK ME IN THE FACE. Straight up shake me silly. 😜

I’m here because of you, and this channel is our little corner of the internet that we get to experiment in together. If you are here and reading this, I encourage you to drop me a little wave (helps me to recognize you in these comments) and let me know if there’s anything you’ve enjoyed or want to see more of in this channel.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

NOW LET’S POP SOME VIRTUAL BUBBLE TEA! 🧋

Hey Taters! 🥔

A lot of you know Thomas as the supportive man 🧔🏻‍♂️ behind-the-scenes to my projects but do you guys know that he also has his own YT channel: ‪@Mr.LightMode‬ ? In fact, he's the one who encouraged me to start mine and gave me the confidence to try. 💪

The other week we had a little Moto Date and he vlogged the whole day. I am incognito in his video because his channel has way more eyeballs than my awkward self can handle. For some reason this lil WhaChuUpTo community here seems way less scary for me to show my face on (though in the beginning I seriously contemplated starting this channel as a faceless blob).

If any of you fellow rider friends 🏍️ are still hanging out in my channel, let me know! And if you're itching for some motovlog-y content, here's that video:

Thank you all again for your support in these videos! You've made this daunting start to YouTube feel... not so scary anymore. 🥲

Hey Guys!

New DIY vid just uploaded and it's one that's dear to our hearts. For the past few years, Thomas' trusty steed has been a volunteer supercar for an initiative that takes critically and chronically ill kids on rides through the Driven Project initiative (SUPERCAR THERAPY). This year, we knew we had to bring back Lambo Pikachu for these kids and with only 3 days to spare, this DIY had to be cranked out quick.

Let us know how you think it turned out and what other yellow creature Lambo should be for the kids at the next event!

We are going to be off the grid for the next few days on a camping trip but will get back to any comments upon our return!

Thank you as always for kicking it with us here!

P.S. The video may include a sneak preview of the new changes to the Office!
