'Sayuree Dance Theatre' is a school for Sri Lankan and Indian classical dance styles, Kandian and Bharathnatyam, located in Melbourne, Australia. I, Dance Visharadh Sayuree Medawatta, am the founder, principal and the choreographer of the dance theatre, who is an educated and well experienced professional dancer.
I have started my dance life as a Bharathnatyam dancer at the age of 7 years. Since then, over past two decades, I have learnt all Sri Lankan cultural and folk dance styles, modern dance, contemporary, ect. in the University level and done various experimental work. These experiences have helped me realise my passion - to be a dance researcher and be creative in the areas of fusing various dance styles and directing and choreographing dance dramas.
My aspiration is to carry out further experimental work as a professional dancer and examine even more areas of dance, gaining exposure to greater opportunities along the way.
