This was not a post I had expected to make for quite some time. Yesterday I had to make the very tough decision to put Boba to sleep.
I took Boba into the vet for a lump on her face underneath her eye that was causing the eye to bulge up and out. After a CT scan, we discovered the lump was a tumor. In addition, the pressure of the tumor against the eye had caused an ulcer to form. I was so upset I hadn’t spotted the tumor earlier, but the vet said because of its location it would’ve been hard to see until it started affecting the eye like it was now.
The tumor was hard, and the vet didn’t know if it would be removable because of that. And if it was removed, it could be cancerous and come back. There was also the matter of the eye, which would have to likely be sewn shut. Doing surgery would be more of a gamble than anything else, and palliative care wasn’t a good option either, as there was the risk of the eye popping at any time. My vet recommended euthanasia.
I will miss Boba so dearly. I only had her for a year, but she was such a sweet soul and the perfect little picture model. She was outgoing and energetic, and I’m so sad this tumor took her from me too early. I know this was the best decision for her so she’s not in pain anymore, but it was hard and unexpected. I know Pumpkin grieves for her too.
