Back in 2004, Mark Webber was seen as one of F1ās rising stars, ranked alongside the likes of Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso as the men most likely to topple the great Michael Schumacher from his perch. A move to one of the sportās most successful teams, Williams, looked sure to catapult him from promising talent to a race-winning, championship challenger.
Instead, what followed was two years of rotten reliability, mediocre management, dodgy driving, BMW belittling and Renault-based regrets.

Happy 4 years since I first uploaded a video on the Mobile Chicane channel!
It was recorded as a way to pass lockdown, has dreadful audio quality and questionable editing, but I'm so glad I did it.
Never would I have imagined it would take me all the way here.

This was a real tasty one for me to dig into. Iāve watched Senna, and read numerous biographies, but Ayrtonās Lotus years were really interesting to dive into for me. Going into the video I thought this might just be a āMcLaren Misery of Raikkonenā v2; a tale of lost potential through rotten reliability. So it was quite a pleasant surprise to find so many more details to the tale, and understanding the whys and hows of how Lotus failed to land one last title.
Moving forward, Iām changing up my work schedule in the hopes itāll generate some new content for you all a little faster than every 6-8 weeks. But thank you all for always being patient, and all your support.
