I paid 36€ (39 usd) for a lift ticket today including insurance. The lady at the counter said they were offering a discount because the snow was a bit wet and it was a windy at the top, so one of lifts wasn’t operational.

I’ve been watching the duopoly situation in the states grow continually worse over the last few years and it’s just bad for the sport. It’s bad for the people, it’s bad for the mountain towns which simply become lifeless holiday spots with no community. Its sad to see and it sucks big time.

Skiing is great fun and it should be available to everyone. For those that have a passion for it, they should be able to pursue it without sharing a bedroom with 4 other people.

I’m really sorry you guys have to put up with greedy corporate bullshit like this, and I don’t have a solution, other to join a union and support the smaller ski hills obviously, but I just wanted to share this great video and just show my support or solidarity or something.

Just a reminder that lentils are cheap.

It’s lentil night tonight. Every time I cook this at home it takes me back to the mountains.

If you weren’t aware, a little while back I hiked the GR11 and learned this recipe from Karim. He’s the guy that I helped out this his knees.

I fixed his knee pain, he taught me how to cool lentils, it was a good deal.

You can see the lentil recipe video here:

I’m also acutely aware of the prices of eggs in the USA and it doesn’t look like it’s going down so FYI lentils are a very cheap and easy source of protein on and off the trail.

I have just added a 5 part mini course to membership (momentum) that clearly breaks down the 1 drill that I give to all my 1:1 clients that report having tight hamstrings.

After performing this drill they usually experiencing (often immediately) more relaxed length in not just their hamstrings but their whole back line (posterior chain).

I’ve seen people touch their toes for the first time in a decade from doing this drill just once 😯

Some take a little longer, but literally everyone I’ve done this with makes significant progress. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much conviction in one movement for every body.

Like many, you may come to the conclusion that is wasn’t your tight hamstrings after all, but an entire posterior chain that just wasn’t happy being flexed.

I’ve just added this 5 part series of videos that teaches you how to relax hamstrings and move more comfortably in flexion, I’ll give you the first part here for free this this video

Anyone into Gravel? Just impulsively bought a bike that performs poorly on the road and even worse on trails but is capable of going both over extremely long distances.

For those that want to understand the foot, Conor is a great resource. He understands the body well and he is very good at explaining things. Check him out!

Your hiking ability is determined by your ability to bend the knee and pronate the foot.

That's the most important thing I've learned in the last year.

If you can't do either of those well, you will likely have knee pain, foot/ankle pain or back pain.

No amount of stretching will undo this.

No amount of strength training will undo this.

You have to learn to trust your knee in a bent position and place force into the ground through the foot.

I've spend almost all of this year studying the way people walk and learning from other coaches who have stopped buying into the idea that you just need more mobility, more strength, more stretching.

I've stopped stretching entirely, I've worked with 24 knee pain clients this year, all of them bar one is out of pain. We didn't do ANY stretching. We just learned to pronate the foot and trust the knee in a bent position.

I’ve wasted so much of my career chasing more length, more strength. I saw people on Instagram doing all this insane mobility stuff and I thought that that was required to function well and not be in pain.

I did the ATG thing, got super deep and proficient in all of those moves but nothing really changed biomechanially - still had a strange gait cycle, still had back pain, neck pain and occasional knee pain.

I drank the ATG kool aid for quite a while, I used it, and it worked for some people, but not for everyone.

Being strong in a full range of motion in an exercise is great but it's not a panacea to all knee pain. It won’t fix anything if you have a stiff foot that doesn’t change shape when you step on it, and quads that can’t trust less than 5 degrees of knee bend.

I really think this stuff needs to be coached. I’ve added it to my Mountain Proof Ankles program, but it’s so subtle - I don’t know if everyone will get it, that’s the truth.

There’s no such thing as too much pronation
