Jimmy Yako was born in Duhok, Iraq on the 4th of October 1984. Yako comes from the Christian Village of Sheoz.
In 2000, after the death of his father Wadia Yako, his family migrated to New Zealand where he lived for 10 years. In 2010 Yako then moved to Melbourne, Australia where he got married and had a family of his own that consist of 4 beautiful boys.
From his youngest days, Yako was immersed in melodies, greatly inspired by his older brother, Fouad Yako, a remarkable vocalist. However, 2018 brought sorrow when Fouad succumbed to cancer. Yako's musical beginnings were in New Zealand, sharing stages with his revered brother.
Every note Yako plays is a tribute to Fouad, a cornerstone of his success, and a nod to his supportive family.
Jimmy Yako is deeply thankful to the Divine for his musical gift.
However, it wasn’t until Australia when Jimmy Yako started to shine and build a reputation for himself with the Soraye Community.
