The Mundum ethnic group is made up of the Mundum I and Mundum II #clans which are generally referred to as Mundum. There is a Mundum-speaking enclave in #Mankon, but they are not officially recognized as belonging to the Mundum tribe in #Bafut Sub-Division.
History
According to Brye et al (2005), the Mundum people originated in #Widikum, later moving to Mankon where today there remains a Mundum-speaking quarter called Ala-Mundum. Some left this #location and eventually split into two groups; one group settled in Mundum I, and the other went to Mundum II. Mundum II ancestors are said to have passed through #Oshie after the split and prior to settling at their present location. On the other hand, Mundum I people settled first in Beba near Bafut where they eventually had a #land dispute with #Beba settlers and were forced to move to Ntamanji from where they finally moved to their present site to cultivate its fertile #soil. #mundum #culture #palace #tradition
