The Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) was a Dutch foundation that was established in 1946. FOM's aim was to promote fundamental research in physics in the Netherlands. It did this, among other things, by financing physics research. This is part of the so-called indirect funding stream, through research programs and projects and through collaboration with industry. Since 2017 FOM has been incorporated into the Dutch Research Council (NWO) in domain science (ENW)
