My name is Kenneth M Crater and I'm a writer and filmmaker, in addition to a Kung Fu teacher. I also play the drums but not very well. However, more than anything I am obsessed with cinema and have been this way my entire life. When I was in college I had a professor who I admired a lot.. and whenever we started talking about a reading/analysis of a film that we were thinking up, he would always say.. "That sounds like a good paper topic" because he taught us to do cinematic analysis and write papers on films using thematic and formalistic details from the movies rather than listening to the explanation of one of the filmmakers. He would often quote Federico Fellini who said... "Our duty as storytellers is to bring people to the station. There each person will choose his or her own train... But we must at least take them to the station... to a point of departure."
So I plan to talk about trains that I've taken with cinema but not to tell you necessarily to take that train yourself.
