Mercury is retrograde today (stationed retrograde yesterday) for a little over three weeks, and retrogrades are considered a good time to finish up past/ongoing projects. Technically everything I'm working on right now is past/ongoing because they're all things I've started in the past and just never finished up! ๐
As much as Mercury retro can be annoying (when it leads to issues with tech, communication, and travel), I appreciate it as a regular reminder to look at my backlog and see what I can try to wrap up! (Because I DO struggle with the "getting it out to the world" step, often...)
Once again, I've got some projects in the works...

It's here! The 2024 Year in Review that kept being pushed off by one thing after another -- travel, illness, teaching classes, severe storms causing multiple-day power outages...! -- is complete and now public! (It was available in early access to my supporters for the past couple of days.) This December, 2024... after what turns out to be seven years... Vlogstice is back!
Vlogmas is a thing some YouTubers started years ago where they vlog daily throughout December leading up to Christmas. Since I celebrate the Winter Solstice, I did... Vlogstice! ๐ But right from the start, I knew daily wouldn't work for me, so mine was every other day in December leading up to Solstice.
I wasn't planning to do Vlogstice this year at all, and once I thought of it, we were already several days into the month, so I knew whatever I did would be a shorter timeline. The other night, the idea came to me to do one video for each letter in VLOGSTICE and theme the topics to the letters. The first image is the list I came up with for myself to do, and the second has more prompts for the letters so that if other people want to play along, you could choose other words! They're sort of a mix of holiday and magical themes.
Here are the theme words on the images, for those using screen readers (if there is an option to put alt text on images in these posts, I can't find it!) -- again they start with the letters in the word Vlogstice, which is "vlog" plus "solstice."
My list: vegan cocoa, lights, outdoors, games, snow?/season, tea & tarot, introspection, candles, and Earth.
Suggestions of other words for the letters: vivid, vigil, visioning; literature, love, lore; oracle, offering, old, organic; gifts, growth, gratitude; star, silly, sacred, song; treats, together, trance; ice, inspire, imagine, illuminate; creative, candy, cards, circle; evergreen, ensemble, ecstatic. (A few of these words are from Reclaiming's EIEIO, which I will talk about in at least one video.)
My intention is for these to be short videos (about 10 min, perhaps, depending on how much I have to say about the topic) with some maybe having a bit more editing than others, but that they will NOT be "daily vlog" style all about my entire day and with dozens of clips to edit together. Simple touchstones, and something that feels sustainable for me to get done every day for nine days, while also doing other things.
I'll start with V on the 13th, which this year happens to be Friday the 13th!
