On that fateful day I received a call from an old friend, a parishioner from my former parish, Paschal.
His voice was very unstable and he slowly said to me on the phone "Fr Emma please come to Limelight Hospital, please I'm begging you".
I immediately left my location and drove straight to the hospital. When I came in and met him at the hallway, he looked into my eyes and said "Please Fr Emy that woman is my life, go and pray for her. Fr if you don't want to lose me, go and pray for my wife".
I looked into his eyes, those were eyes filled with pains, fear, hopelessness, helplessness and total dependence on God through prayers, because for him nothing else can be achieved without God's grace.
Fortunately the Doctors were waiting for me to pray for the wife before they commence the surgery, because they had assured him they would wait a little for me to come and pray.
I went in and prayed for her and came back to him (the husband) at the hallway.
When he saw me coming out of the theater, he approached me, hugged me and started shedding tears.
He knelt down, held my feet and cried like a baby.
God knows I was broken into pieces that very day but I couldn't show it before him.
I encouraged him not to lose hope and that miracles are still the FOOTPRINTS OF CHRIST JESUS THE WOUNDED MESSIAH.
When I went into my car, it was then my turn to cry😭😭😭
I didn't hold back the tears, because I felt the weight of my friend.
The only words I was able to mutter were "Lord Jesus do your thing, your name is at stake here".😭
The surgery was indeed successful.
Honestly there are still beautiful marriages where husbands and wives are really living like twins; very very unbreakable and attached, even the negative idiosyncrasies of this GE and time can't harm their union.
And that surgery was indeed SUCCESSFUL!
I wish you all beautiful marriages!
God bless you

One of my altar servers stole from me yesterday!
It wasn't the 10,00 Naira that he took that pained me but the trust that he shattered.
Immediately I dismissed 6am mass by 8:10 am, I rushed into my car straight from the sacristy and drove to the Outstation to celebrate 8.30 am Mass. I was accompanied by one of my altar servers . By 9.50 am I was rushing back to the parish to celebrate 10 am mass.
When I drove into the parish,it was already 10:10am. There wasn't time again for a quick cup of tea. I hurriedly took my vestments from the car and dashed to the sacristy to vest for the next Mass.
However,I didn't forget to dip my hand into my pocket and gave the young boy that accompanied me to the Outstation 1000 note for his breakfast. It has always been a habit of mine to give breakfast to those who accompany me to the Outstations for mass. Sometimes,I simply give them money if I have other engagements that will make it impossible for me to provide breakfast.
Around 12 pm, I had dismissed the 10 am mass and moved towards the rectory exhausted. I met the parish priest who told me that he noticed a young boy from the balcony upstairs inside my car during 10 am mass and when he called him out, the person opened the door and ran away clutching a brown envelope.
I quickly went to the car and discovered the money I kept to top fuel inside the car was no longer there. In my haste to begin 10 am mass,I had forgotten to lock my car. 😭
There were plenty altar boys around the parish house during 10 am mass. How is it possible to locate the thief?
I went to the security post and was told that there was a boy who ran out with speed during 10 am. The security man said that the boy was an altar server and also my student in jss1and he will be able to recognize him anywhere. I told him that whenever he sees the boy, he should call me.
I later got a call from from the security man that he has the boy in custody. I was disappointed to notice it was the same altar boy who accompanied me to the Outstation , the same boy I gave 1000 that money, the Same boy that when he celebrated his birthday, I drove him to chicken republic and gave him a treat. When I threatened to arrest him ,he agreed that he took the money and had already squandered it.
The money he took wasn't what made me sad,it was the trust he shattered. I usually take my altar servers as brothers. Any of my altar servers celebrating birthdays must usually visit Chicken Republic for Little goodies. I have been good to them and have been available to assist them whenever I can.
His action warranted immediate expulsion from the association which I pronounced immediately on the spot. Of course,I have to change my attitude henceforth and I have to be more vigilant in my dealings.
It is always disappointing that betrayals always come from within our inner circle. You must be extremely vigilant when you are with those you call your friends.
Meanwhile, cobwebs just full everywhere for this my page. How Una dey? It's been long.

Fr. Innocent Malgwi Ogameh Replies
In as much as the young lads actions are bad. Stealing is bad and I condemn it. But permit me to say this brother priest... Please don't be angry to the extent of sending him away from serving. Yes the trust has been shattered but like Peter, not preaching to you but mediating, after he denied Christ, he realized his mistakes and asked for forgiveness. Today St Peter is celebrated. Expulsion Fr if I may say yes, but how about suspension for maybe a month or two? While serving his punishment, some close quarter advice maybe be added. Sometimes great minds are painted black by the devil. Everyone makes mistakes in life, but that doesn't mean they have to pay for it for the rest of their lives please Padremus of the most high. Sometimes good people make bad choices, it doesn't mean they're totally bad. It simply means they're and we're all human. Please Padremus of God, be merciful and help that little boy see the light out of the darkness he's entering by mistake if I may say. I once had similar case with an altar server in my station here, the mom wanted to kill him with beating but I stopped here and say, the money he stole can't be enough to pay his hospital bills if God forbid it she injured him. But long story short, the young man is doing well all thanks to God. Please Padremus, I beg your good heart to reconsider and help this young man see the light. Nearer to the altar, nearer to God or how them dey talk am self... But please Fr, temper justice with mercy. The most Holy Padre...

HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY OF EPISCOPAL ORDINATION, FATHER BISHOP 🥳🥳🥳
THE PRIEST AS A FATHER IN THE CHURCH THAT IS FAMILY
Foreword
This essay was written in 2009 on the occasion of the silver jubilee of my priestly ordination. It was first published in the same year as part of a collection of essays by the «Bigard 1984 Priests' Association» to mark that occasion (cf. John Ekei, John Anosike and Joseph Nwanna [eds.], Church and Family in Africa, Fab Educational Books, Awka 2009, pp. 205-215). I am happy to reissue it today, unedited, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of my episcopal ordination.
I do this for a couple of reasons. First, after fourteen years, the essay still represents my present position on the theme. Second, when I became a bishop, I chose to retain the title "father" (Father Bishop in English, Nna anyi Bishop in Igbo), in preference to the usual Lord/Lordship, that has become conventional in Nigeria, even among the Igbo-speaking people. This choice, to say the least, was not understood at the beginning, and was given various interpretations. Aware of the socio-cultural import and impact of titles among our people, in the Church as well as in the wider society, and aware that some ecclesiastical titles are culturally fluid, I thought of setting out a cultural programme for my people and a spiritual one for myself by choosing to be addressed as "father." It is one thing to be and to be seen as a Lord. It is quite another to be and be seen as a father. Whereas our culture as Igbo people may make it difficult for us to see a human being as our lord (which explains why the title is not translated into Igbo), we very readily extend the affection and respect we have for our fathers to many other persons.
It is my hope that anyone who reads this short essay will understand the theoretical background of the choice that I made in 2013. Ten years after I was ordained and installed the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka, I offer this essay to my beloved people of Nsukka Diocese, especially my wonderful brothers in the priesthood, as a statement: All that I have tried to be these past ten years is a father to all of you. That is my spiritual programme.
While I thank you all for the love and support you have showered on me as your father, I invite my brother priests to persevere in their efforts to remain fathers to the faithful, in the sense in which it was described in this essay. While dealing with our brothers and sisters, may we always hear the words of Ogbuefi Ezeudu ringing in our ears and beating in our hearts: "That person calls you father..."
May God keep you in his love.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla met with Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican this morning as part of their official state visit. They were welcomed into the San Damaso Courtyard by Swiss Guards and the hymn “God save the King.”
Their meeting with the Holy Father marks a historic moment in Anglican-Catholic relations and is centered on two key themes: Christian unity and care for the environment.
