Feels like it's been a little bit, but we are back with another season's worth of race ratings! This one being the season of 2003. Lots of stuff to talk about with this season, most notable being the full season championship format. And also how everything in NASCAR is just one big cycle of never actually learning what works....
It'll all be discussed in more detail in a video later on down the road! Just for now know that 2003 ranks 14th of the 18 seasons I have watched through so far.

Hope everyone's been enjoying those older races being uploaded in crisp HD quality! Meanwhile, I've gotten to "enjoy" the 2020 Cup Series season and finally completed it! Boy is it funny watching a 550 season when it's not the 550 era anymore, it shows just how low the bar was set during that time, that'll be explained in more detail later on.
Unfortunately, by average race rating this was the worst season I've watched. For a positive, A for effort for NASCAR getting the full 36 race season in with all the chaos of the year! And for giving a light of hope during the season with the 750 low downforce package! Reminded me what good short track racing could look like...

It took pretty much the entire off-season, but 2004 has been completely watched! This was a season I had expected to be a little bit higher average wise while watching, but looking back on it, it makes sense that it was just a mediocre season overall. Video of my thoughts will follow to go more in depth with why I think that era of NASCAR was bound to have problems when it came to the tracks, along with some of the good from 2004!

Ended up being able to officially finish the 2005 season now that the first Michigan race was uploaded! As mentioned, season wasn't anything special, and the Michigan race had no impact on the season average as the race itself ended up being rated basically as the season average.

So I've realized that after 2019, I never did post the list of my individual race ratings for 2010-2006. So, here they are in one post! The order of these ratings is 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006. Some really good ones to watch from this time frame!

And now, after 2 years of race watching, my 2011-2019 experiment is complete! A lot to unpack from all 9 seasons for sure, but 2019 proved to be a terrible ender. Its average ranks lower than 2015, with 10(!) bad races in the season, but also 6 great races. This means 2011 remains as my highest rated season, with 2019 being my lowest ranked season.

2018 is certainly one of the most polarizing NASCAR seasons ever, and the race rankings live up to that. It had 7 great races, only fewer than 2011! However, it also had 7 bad races, only better than 2015 with that mark. When you look at the overall season rating, it falls pretty much right into the average section, and within a point of 2012 and 2016.

2017 has been completed. In all honesty, it ranks about how I thought about it. The season wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything to write home about. If anything, this season showed the tracks that were good as they all ranked really well.

I always held 2016 to the same standard as 2014, they were the 2 best Gen 6 seasons. 2016 honestly fell short of expectations, it ranks just 0.1 of a point above 2012. Ranks it 4th of the 6 seasons I have so far watched.
