The Uttarakhand forest department has registered a primary offence under the Forest Act against Piyush Aggarwal, son of state cabinet minister and former assembly speaker Premchand Aggarwal(BJP), for allegedly cutting two protected species of khair trees without permission for the construction of a resort in Pauri Garhwal.
Kotdwar divisional forest officer (DFO) Akash Gangwar confirmed the illegal cutting.
