The entire story of A-natural would require at least a three part epic novel or a three-season Netflix series to keep its accuracy. So for now, the Cliff Notes version goes like this:
A-natural was born in Plainfield, NJ to two musical parents who raised him on Jesus, Earth Wind & Fire, Dianne Reeves, and PBS. Classical music in high school, Tonéx & Kim Burrell in college, and Brandy & Rodney Jerkins as a young adult would train his ear in preparation for his career as a singer, songwriter, and music producer.
A few bumps along the way: three failed music business partnerships, a failed record label opportunity with Sony Music, and a failed suicide attempt almost cut short A-naturalâs musical endeavors. All of this turned around once he went back to basics and got a day job. From then, he would go on to release 4 R&B albums, win two Independent Music Awards, open for T-Pain at a huge music festival, and win a huge songwriting honor from ASCAP.
