The World Happiness Report is a publication released annually
by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
It ranks countries based on various factors that contribute to happiness
and well-being such as GDP per capita, social support,
healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity,
and perceptions of corruption.
India ranked 126th out of 146 countries, marking it as one of
the least joyful nations globally. The report found that Indiaβs low
ranking is due to a number of factors, including:
Low income per capita
Poor health outcomes
Low levels of social support
Low levels of trust
Low levels of generosity
The report also noted that India has been disproportionately
affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has further exacerbated these challenges.
This ranking reflects the well-being and happiness levels among the Indian population. While there has been an improvement
compared to the previous yearβs 136th ranking, India still lags behind many other nations.
