SHINE stands for Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone (on Medicare). We are a federally funded program offering free, unbiased counseling to Medicare beneficiaries. Our counselors are certified and trained to assist with everything from helping consumers select prescription drug coverage to screening them for state and federal financial assistance programs. Our counselors are mostly volunteers and are not compensated in any way. This allows them to give consumers a broad selection when reviewing coverage choices, unlike insurance brokers who may be earning commissions based on the coverage they recommend.
This channel was created to share important news and other content that will benefit Medicare beneficiaries, in particular during these challenging times when in person counseling is not an option. This program and the contents of this channel are specific to Massachusetts residents and insurance plans.
