About

Based in St. Louis, Three Merry Widows was a psychedelic-folk-rock band, which toured regionally and nationally, until the bands break up in 1994. The members of the Widows consisted of Alice Spencer (vocals), Brian Simpson (guitar), Sean Garcia (guitar, vocals), Charles Shipman (bass), and Matt Albert (drums, percussion). The Widows shared the stage opening for such acts as Trip Shakespeare, Firehose, Billy Bragg, Uncle Tupleo, Mazzy Star, School of Fish, The Connells, Soul Asylum, and many more. In 1991, the band released "Which Dreamed It," on TVT records, followed by the single, "Black Halo." After the bands demise, several ex-TMW's went on to pursue other music projects including, The Geyer Street Sheiks, Spinning Jenny, Tinhorn, The Barkers, Victrola, Cobalt Blue, and the Sparrows.
