You guys ..... JOAAAANN is closing 533 of it's 800 stores, including the ones near me.
And if you've been following this channel from the get go, Joann has been one of the places we'd always do our Halloween (and Christmas) decor hunting, finding non-licensed witchy things.
Don't get me wrong, we saw this coming.
Joann hasn't really pivoted with the times. Their prices too high & requiring coupons to even match other places regular prices model didn't work, lots of outdated merch catered to groups not really funding them, and their quality was not always the best.
But we did find some good things ... a number of cauldrons, dementor like characters, and much more.
I'm bummed. βΉοΈ
But what do you say, should we do a vlog going out (likely multiple times) to scout out the closing down sales, when they happen?

!!! SHEGLAM UPDATE π!!!
I promised I'd give an update if/when Sheglam responded to my inquiry. Here's that update:
On December 28, 2024 - I messaged Sheglam asking if carmine is accurately listed as an ingredient in the golden snitch highlighter from the 2.0 line (pointing out that carmine is not vegan, but they labeled the product as vegan) OR if it was a mistake that carmine was listed, and the product is indeed vegan.
Today, Jan 16th they responded (see image 1).
And this was after constantly asking for updates, being told someone would get back to me but no one did, so I sent one final message.
As youΒ can see in that email, they conveniently didn't answer my question. Instead, offered a return? A return that wouldn't be needed depending on the answer.
AND they had the audacity to tell me that basically, I can only reach out to them IF I agree to a return.Β
BUT WAIT, there's more ...
We were curious, and checked the page on theirΒ website for the golden snitch highlighter.
Notice anything different?
If you'll see from the screenshot taken today (image 2) and the screenshot I took on Dec 28th (image 3) there's a little something missing ... the vegan label.
Sooooo do what you want with this info.Β
Here's my takeaway:
I have absolutely NO intention to purchase from Sheglam again!
And let me tell you, this kind of content 'gets the views' and thus eyes on my channel. So I could easily get and review what likely ends up being the Harry Potter 3.0 line. But I don't want views off the backs of a company that will lie and take no accountability.
And to be fair (as a number of you pointed out) the packaging (the one thing it had going for it) wasn't up to snuff and the makeup, well, there are better options out there.
Also, since YT cuts the image off, I'll be posting the full one in Discord.

It's been a year of much struggle but MUCH love. π₯°
Thank you for the memories, the many messages & comments, the incredibly generous gifts, the support of just watching my silly videos but most of all ... the friendship. π€
I believe deeply in what I say on this channel, beginning to end, that 'weird is wonderful, and magic is real' and to 'love what you love with everything you have.' Because magic IS real, loving things deeply seems rare but there's no better way to live and to also get through the struggles than to have that love guiding us.
And the more we are who we are, love loudly, the more light we leave for others. π―οΈ
And you've been that light for me too!
This channel is easily one of the best things I've ever done and boy do we have much to come.
So cheers to more magic π₯β¨, more love β€οΈ, more acceptance π₯°, & yes, probably struggle but we aren't alone. We're in this together, always. π

The first two are ready to go but because I thought, oh I'll make the owl post a vlog and had no idea what I was getting into, it's currently sat at 2 hours and 6 minutes π²:
It will be a miracle if it's gotten down to an hour and a half π but it's worthy of every second:

Also, I'm officially off of the muggle job for 13 days. I'm so excited!!!

This photo, of an out of focus, tear filled, but heart SO so full girl (I'm still processing it & learning how to receive it really π) was taken right after filming the remains you see behind me. And I'll warn you (video dropping Dec 22nd) it will be a looooong video (take that YT algorithm, I frankly don't care π), of some very special owl post and honestly what felt like Christmas with family. π¦π¦πβ¨β‘οΈ
There have been moments like this throughout the year & since starting this channel, and they appear in so many ways. From so many of the comments you all leave me about how my videos bring some degree of light and joy to your lives, to the conversations we have in Discord that are silly and deep, personal, joy filled, and hard and making true friends from it (and also those of you over email - you know who you are β€οΈ), to meeting one of you at LeakyCon (and continuing that friendship onward π€), to recently being noticed while shopping (if you're reading, my Gamestop friend, I thank you!!!), and to today which felt like all of those moments all at once. A true shower of love. π
As many of you know, these past few months to year have been challenging for me. Not without love, not without joy, but the rollercoaster life offers and especially for those of us who don't always fit so perfectly in the world.
But I can tell you, WE DO FIT.
We fit when we find the people who don't make us fit, but accept us as who we are & what we love.
Creating this channel has been one of the greatest gifts I've ever received because of you.
It's been A LOT of work (like a lot) but the reward is unlike any work I've ever done. And I'm in it for the long haul, my friends. π
The reward has been love. Acceptance. A safe space. Friendship and dare I say, family.
