Comedian Norm Macdonald started off his third podcast season's 1st episode with an impersonation of William F. Buckley. Guest Stephen Merchant replied, "I didn't realize that the show was going to have such hip references as William F. Buckley...The kids watching this online, they're going to go crazy." Here's my tribute, mashing up a "Firing Line" episode, with poet Allen Ginsberg picking his nose in the guest chair (R.I.P. x3). watch video on watch page

On the front slope of Capitoline Hill, a building called the Tabularium overlooks the Roman Forum, once the center of day-to-day life in ancient Rome. Every dusk, after the Forum closes to people, birds fill the air in sound and flight. From a high terrace of the Tabularium, I set down my camera and captured this 4K footage (in which you can spot miniature details), hearing the Ancient Airs and Dances of Ottorino Respighi in my head: especially the one that he named for his beautiful country, Italiana (Suite No. 3, P. 172, Movement I). It blends here with my original camera audio of bird song in real time, documenting this mystical vision that I'll cherish forever. watch video on watch page

Collaborating with composer/performer Susan Botti of @SUBOmusic was a highlight of 2022! Really excited to see this launched into the world. As she put it, not a "treadmill video," and truly an archival treasure. Given the intense dynamic range of the audio, it's worth listening to with good speakers, and patience to immerse into its creeping development across the quarter-hour running time. watch video on watch page
