This is my all time favorite recording of Blue Monk. Barry and Monk were close friends and room mates, and this is such a great tribute to their lifetime of friendship. watch video on watch page

Had a great gig last weekend with Lee Oskar at the lease of his new album "Never Forget". Lee is a champion of the harmonica, and he actually manufactures one of the famous brands of harmonica himself!

Did you know that there are narrower sized keyboards for pianos? This is a great video exploring the reasons why these pianos are not regularly manufactured by the big piano companies. watch video on watch page

Hello YouTube! I am a jazz pianist from Seattle, Washington, USA where I perform regularly and operate a music school, Seattle Jazz Academy. I am excited to share videos with the world on this channel - it will be a mix of performance videos, short practice ideas, and maybe some longer video series on jazz piano education and ways to work through popular tunes and standards. There are so many channels out there for piano beginners and jazz beginners, the majority of the material I will post here will be for intermediate players and beyond. Sometimes we have trouble knowing what to practice when we sit down at the instrument for our daily practice session - I hope that this channel can be an answer to that problem. If you don't know what to practice, grab a video from our Short Practice Ideas playlist and work it out! Practice ideas will be posted on Sundays. If you would like to learn more about me please check out my website, www.mackgroutmusic.com - happy practicing!
