Hello everyone, yes, I saw news today that Amtrak 161 was destroyed in a fire at Ivy City, destroying at least 161, and damaging other equipment that I am not aware of at the moment. While it does suck that now a second Amtrak phase 1 heritage unit has been destroyed, the most important thing is that nobody was seriously hurt or killed in the fire, even though it consumed 161. Yes, 161 being destroyed is sad, but what is not to say that Amtrak will just use another Genesis locomotive and paint it into phase 1? (ALC-42s with heritage schemes apart from 301 probably won't be for a while RN) You can replace a heritage unit. You can't replace human lives.

This was made a while ago, but it is so awesome! The fact that someone managed to catch 1852 and a Western Maryland Scenic Railroad locomotive in the same photo is so cool.

Some NS AC44C6Ms are gonna be joining a Union Pacific C44ACM in Alamosa Colorado for high altitude emissions testing, and this post shows them going over La Veta pass. I thought this was cool.

There was a concept to have a Bulleid pacific run as a cab forward, I'm dead serious.

So this one time, one of the prime ministers of Canada actually operated the International Limited when it was operated by Canadian National and the Grand Trunk Western. That's actually pretty cool.

Y'know, seeing what the old Tacoma Amtrak station was like before the Point Defiance Bypass officially opened, it's kinda sad seeing the old Tacoma station now that Amtrak has moved onto the point defiance bypass

Photo of Rio Grande 4-6-2, 800 at Glenwood Springs station in 1938 from this post: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1773356989434137&iā€¦

Crazy how different Glenwood Springs is today compared to now. This was prior to I-70 being on the other side of the river from the tracks.

I had a project in Anthropology where I would also mention that grain is most commonly transported by train, and I scored a 29/30 on the project.

The class average was 27/30.

Also this was part of the project
