Pull Ups Everyday for 30 Days Challenge 🔥

You may have seen over on my shorts: youtube.com/shorts/Ch0HPb20NP... that I'm on a mission to get my pull ups back to what they were and in doing so I set myself the goal of doing pull ups (or some variation of) everyday for the next 30 days!

If you want to join me and help keep each other accountable I have created a WhatsApp group which you can join here: chat.whatsapp.com/LFViZ3lHvDb1ZIO4w9oueT.

PS. You don't need to be able to do pull ups at all, we have women of all levels doing loads of different versions and supporting each other!

Can't wait to see you there! ❤️

Imposter syndrome - ‘a feeling of self-doubt of intellect, skills, or accomplishments among high-achieving individuals’.

I’ve just sent out a new Substack discussing whether imposter syndrome is a friend or foe but for the TLDR version…

open.substack.com/pub/lucylismore/p/defeating-impo…

Chronically familiar and too often all consuming. Something I have experienced most of my life fuelled by being a chronic people pleaser then further compounded by losing a significant amount of weight. It appears that the physical weight I lost landed straight on my shoulders in the form of self doubt and a huge identity crisis - I didn’t see that one coming 😅.

I now understand better than I did in the past why I experience imposter syndrome but 5 years later I still struggle to separate the ‘past self’ from the ‘present me’ which for all intense purposes are completely opposing people. I often find myself frozen in inaction for weeks at a time, unable to get out of my own way. It’s frustrating and totally crippling.

As I have navigated this over the years there have been a few pieces of advice I have received or seen that eventually always seem to pull me out of the black hole of doom and remind me it’s time to put my big girl pants on and JFDI (just f*cking do it) and here they are:

‘You should be seeking the feeling of imposter syndrome because if you’re not, you’re not attempting to reach your full potential’.

‘If you have a piece of knowledge or information that could help at least one person and you choose (due to imposter syndrome) not to share it then you are being selfish’

‘If I feel like an imposter then I’m going to embrace it. I’m going to simply see just how much I can get away with in this position and keep going until I do get caught out’

For more context check out my latest Substack - you know where to find the links and I hope these nuggets of advice help you too! ❤️

This is an appreciation post for all my girls 🤍! Thats right… you 🫶🏻… To tell you that no matter what you’ve achieved today, yesterday, the last month or the last year… that you are incredible, and there are literally thousands of reasons that you should be celebrated!

In a world where we are bombarded with endless amazing achievements, constant highlight reels and a hustle attitude it can be easy to belittle your own achievements and conversely hard to realise just how amazing you are 💫.

Take a moment today to appreciate how far you’ve come and realise that so many people are inspired by everything you do. Regardless of whether that was waking up today and facing a new day or achieving something that you’ve been working on for so long, you are crushing it.

Also take the chance today to tell the other women in your life just have incredible they are and let’s keep dreaming big, pushing boundaries and supporting each other 💕.

I have so much love for you all and the support that you have shown me over the last few years. It truly blows my mind and you have made me an immeasurably better person, so all I can say is thank you! 🥹

I can’t think of anything more fitting than to be spending the weekend bringing together an awesome bunch of women to conquer mountains for the first time, and make some epic memories… Stay wild, stay free and never stop believing in yourself 💕

Soo you want to get into hiking but not sure how? 🏔💫

I’ve just sent out a new Substack beginners hiking guide but for the TLDR version here are some of the key takeaways:

1. Plan your route
If you are brand new to hiking start with well trafficked/signposted routes so you can build your confidence with being in the outdoors, your hiking abilities and navigating. Some great apps to start with are AllTrails, OS Maps or GaiaGPS. Take a look at your route before setting off and enjoy practicing your nav skills during the walk.

2. What to wear
In terms of clothing it’s all about layers babbyyy. Initially you don’t need to break the bank on fancy gear but a good place to start is to get a good pair of boots, a waterproof jacket and a comfy backpack. The more you hike the better you will get at gauging how much to take with you and what you truly need to invest in.

3. What to take
In my opinion one of the best parts of hiking is sitting on top of a mountain having some summit scran and a thermos of coffee so I’m naturally going to start out with snacks. Of course what’s even more important than the snacks is taking water so don’t forget to prioritise that.

There is also the less exciting things that you’ll need to keep you safe and comfortable like your layers, a first aid kit, a battery pack, map and compass, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat even if you think you won’t need it. On that note…

4. Check the weather
It’s always a good idea to be prepared for all weather eventualities but getting into the habit of checking the forecast for the area you’re hiking is vital. In the UK the MetOffice, Mountain Forecast and Windy gives you all the info you need!

5. Tell someone where you’re going/find a group or hiking buddy
When I started hiking, I asked around friends to see if anyone hiked so I could build my confidence before going hiking solo! If you don’t know anyone there are always group hikes you can take part in (like the ones I run 🙋🏻‍♀️) and hiking communities you can join (like the one I’m launching soon: www.madewildadventures.com/ 🙋🏻‍♀️).

If you have the ability to there is sooo much benefit in hiring a local qualified guide. Not only will you learn so many tips and tricks but their local knowledge is second to none and adds to the experience.

If you’re going alone make sure you tell someone where you are for safety! Lastly a handy tool is sharing your location with a trusted person. You can do this on iPhones and get apps that do this too!

Of course one HUGE thing to remember is to have fun! Enjoy the opportunity to explore, discover, challenge yourself. Take all the photos, appreciate all the big beautiful rocks, paddle in the streams, embrace the snotty noses and frosty fingertips and make the most epic memories!
