What's with a bunch of different, brand new accounts, all with similar name structures, commenting strings of random words on multiple, different, unrelated videos?
In the last 24 hours, a bunch of different, brand new accounts (all of them were created in the last few days) have left comments on various videos. Each comment is a completely random series of words. Some of the comments are just a string of five or six random names (like: Thomas Judy Kathy Dennis Harold Jonathan), others are just two or three, seemingly random words. All of the accounts follow the same name structure. They will be something like: JohnDoe-r3l. They will always be a first name, a last name, a dash, then letter number letter.
it feels like a lead up to some kind of scam, but I'm not sure how, lol. Did YouTube recently change the algorithm such that new accounts face higher scrutiny for spam/bot behavior until they have a certain number of non-flagged posts? Maybe they have new bot accounts post random comments on a bunch of videos until they get above some kind of threshold or something? It's odd. It's almost like they are trying to see if a random string of words is less likely to be flagged as spam than a coherent sentence that doesn't have anything to do with the video. Not sure. But it's odd.

Well, it's official. I just "ordered" a Yeswelder DP200 via Kickstarter. So I'll be doing a full review once it arrives. The Kickstarter campaign doesn't end until the end of October, so it will be a while.
They've always done their larger launches through Kickstarter, but this time they also did a convoluted thing where you could "reserve" it on their website by paying a $30 fee in order to get some "free" gloves with it, but you still have to "back" it on the Kickstarter campaign and then they will refund you the $30 reservation fee once they go to ship you the machine and see that your email was used to pay the reservation amount. It seems like an overly convoluted way to get some money early, but whatever.
Either way, I'll be giving it a go once it arrives!

I've got a lot of other videos planned, but I'm hoping to finally review some welders I've had in the boxes in my garage since at least May. So, a quick poll. Which do you want first? Do you want me to test the newer version of the Yeswelder MIG 205DS, or do you want a video about a couple of stick welders, including one brand I've never looked at before?

I ordered a, 2S, LiFe pouch cell battery. When I do the update video on the Yoshino cells and take one of them apart, I'll also be "arrowing" one of the LiFe cells and taking one of them apart as well. It will be interesting to see how they compare to the Yoshino cells.
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to do it this weekend. I'll try, but I've got a lot going on. It will probably be next week.
In the meantime, just know that I think a big part of the problem is the confusion and disagreements over what even constitutes a "solid state" battery. Even if you don't think they are technically "lying" about their batteries being solid state, Yoshino's marketing is, at the very least, adding to the confusion. I'll go over that a bit in the video as well.

I'm going to make a video carefully disassembling one of the battery cells from the Yoshino. I also want to make it as a bit of an update on my thoughts. I've got a lot going on this week and weekend, but I'll get it done as soon as possible. Cheers!

Well, I'm finally finishing up another video. Unfortunately, it's not a welding video. I will get back to testing welders and such as soon as I can. But this was something I felt driven to do and I think it actually turned out quite interesting. I'm once again holding a company's feet to the fire. Pun intended... ;)

I'm back! Well, sort of. I'm still busy, but I think things have died down a little. I'm hoping to work on a video or two this week and weekend. I can't say when I'll get anything completed, but I'm finally starting to get back at it.
I'm also literally back. Back from a vacation. Okay, I've been back for a while, but I was gone for a week.

Just a quick update. I'm still here, lol. I've been really busy lately and I kinda thought this was going to be the first free weekend I had in a while. Instead, I got sick. Yay. No way I'll be able to work on a video this weekend. And I'm busy for at least the next three weeks.
Unfortunately, it will likely be a while yet before I make another video. I'm not stopping. I have a ton of videos to work on and I'll get back at it just as soon as I can. It's just going to be a lot longer gap between the last video and the next one than usual.
