We have passed 4000 subscribers!
Thank you very much for spending your time to watch my videos.
It still amazes me that that many people would like to see me playing with 40 year old technology.

Let me tell you a few words about the nearest future of this channel.
As you may have noticed, the channel got quiet recent months, but I'd like to assure you that I'm still here and keen to carry on with my projects. Currently, I'm planning a short holiday, but in the second half of August I'll get back to work.
The next video is going to bring mass storage to our 80188 computer using the Raspberry Pi Pico recently added to the PCB as the disk controller. I'm going to explain how we used to use the BIOS procedures to access the disks programmatically. I'm planning to do this with a twist to make it more interesting ;-) I hope to see you there!

Thank you!

Hello everyone!
First of all I would like to send a huge thank you for passing the 3000 subscribers. I started this channel only for my own pleasure of building a computer on breadboards and, honestly, never dreamed that someone would like to watch it. Again, thank you for spending your time to watch my videos.

I would like to share my future plans with you and ask for some HELP deciding what I should focus on from now on. But first, the plans. At some point, I moved from my original breadboard computer with the 80C88 to the PCB and the 80C188. I would like to continue experimenting and adding new peripherals to one of them, but also I'm really determined to expand the PCB version with 80C188 into a complete and functional computer (with all the obvious peripherals) and which can easily be built by anyone. That's why I would like to separate this into a new series which would just be focused on my progress and keep the original series to tinker with more chips (like UART or DRAM). The new series would be mostly focused on the software side which also gives an opportunity to talk about some BIOS features and other things important for the computer to work at all, which I would need to implement for my computer.

I've already started planning a new series which involves an Intel CPU and breadboards again, but I'll keep the details for myself at the moment, before I consider and test my options there. I believe that it's going to be really super-interesting - at least for myself - but I hope you may find it interesting as well.

The poll below is for you to decide what are your preferences and expectations from me in the future. Please have your say - it is REALLY important to me. If the poll does not contain your preferred option, or you would like to elaborate on one, please, drop me an email to the address from the "About" section of this channel.
Thank you very much!

What is better than an Intel x86 breadboard computer?

TWO Intel x86 breadboard computers of course :-)

In the next video we will focus on this new contraption on the right-hand side. As you can see, both are fully functional, but the new one has fewer chips on fewer breadboards and yet still running the same programme (from the last video). And there is this mysterious addition at the bottom...

Any ideas what's there? Share them in the comments, please!

Stay tuned and subscribe if you want to see all the details in the upcoming video.

It's been quite a long time since I published the last video, but please bear with me - I am preparing two new videos for both of my series: the "Intel breadboard computer" and the "Digital electronics basics". I just need a little bit more time to finish them.
In particular, the "Intel breadboard computer" video requires lots of preparations, but it will be quite revolutionary, so I hope it will be worth waiting for.
Thank you for your support and patience!

Hello everyone! I have finally created a simple webpage for my videos:

slador.uk/

You can find there links to the tools I have been using and the GitHub repo containing all the source code and schematics for the Intel 8088 breadboard computer series. It is still a work-in-progress and I'm planning to add the description of my setup to build all my source code for the series.

The next video is in post-production and should be made available in a few days - lots of programming and playing with the LCD this time. I hope you will join to see it!

Thank you all and see you soon!
