Founded in 2012, Media & Entertainment Skills Council is a Not-for-Profit Organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Council has been promoted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with financial support from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
The Council is involved in the implementation of Standards, Training, and Accreditation & Reward (PMKVY) scheme of Government of India.
The idea is to promote a culture of innovation-based entrepreneurship with excellent skill development courses (skill development programmes and skill development certificate courses) which can generate wealth and employment. Through the various skill development and entrepreneurship training, the Media & Entertainment Skill Council aims to serve as a single source of information on Media & Entertainment sector with specific reference to Skill and Human Resource Development in India.
