Friends,
Creating Common Sense Soapbox over the course of the last 8 years has been an incredible privilege and an amazing journey. We don’t believe there is anything else like it — a long running economic explainer series which breaks down complex issues into easy to digest 2-3 minute shorts, complete with good jokes, fleshed out recurring characters, and long, carefully planned story arcs.
We’re incredibly proud of what we have made here, but all good things must come to an end. The next episode will be our last before an indefinite hiatus.
We held off on announcing this because there was some hope that there might be an opportunity to do a few more episodes, but unfortunately that won’t be the case. We had anticipated this for a while, which is why we’ve been setting up a final story arc for Ron. We’re glad to be able to end on a positive note with a meaningful final episode which will give closure to you, our loyal audience.
We want to be clear about two things:
1. We want to thank FEE for generously supporting the series for all these years. Because of that partnership, we’ve been able to grow the series, entertaining and informing millions of people this whole time. We’re still on excellent terms with the folks at FEE, and appreciate their support.
2. We’re incredibly grateful to all of you — our viewers and commenters — who have made this project such a success.
But ultimately, after 8 years, we both need a break from the show to work on other exciting projects.
It isn’t impossible (or even unlikely) that CSS might come back some day, whether in a few months or a few years, but this is the end for now. We have discussed some options to revive it down the line, and the channel will remain online in its current form. So, although no new content will be published to the channel, all your favorite content will still be here to watch and share.
We can’t tell you how much it has meant to be able to produce this show for you.
